Okay, I do realize there are other sites out there that may have problems. But what is the best alternative to PayPal? I'm not going back to PayPal again after they run me around like this.

Maybe you should look into escrow service. It's an expensive option but it offers perhaps the best chance of a fraud free exchange for both the buyer and seller. Not many sellers are willing to jump through the requirements of the escrow process, not many buyers are prepared to pay the fees.
1)You pay the escrow service.
2)Seller ships to the escrow service.
3)Escrow service examines item from seller and IDs it.
4)Escrow service verifies the funds from the buyer are legitimate.
5)Escrow service sends item to the buyer for inspection.
6)If buyer is happy with the product or the inspection time runs out the Escrow service sends the seller the funds (minus their fees.)
7)If the buyer is unsatisfied with the product the Escrow service verifies the same item is returned in the condition is was sent and returns item to the seller and funds to the buyer (minus their fees.)
Many buyers and sellers expect PayPal to operate as an escrow service... there's a big difference between a payment service and an escrow service. Some understand that, and some don't.

Before you get all excited you should be warned that even an escrow service isn't going to be a service that would guarantee a fraud free deal in a software sale.
1) Seller ships software
2) Buyer copies software and returns it.
3) Seller is screwed
or
1) Seller ships software
2) Buyer is unhappy with software
3) Seller refuses to accept return that has been opened
4) Buyer is screwed.
It gets worse, once you get screwed using an escrow service in a software exchange they still get their fees which can be substantial. And here is the absolute worst part, you won't find a message board where you can rant about how you were wronged by the escrow service.

Short of a merchant account I have used PROPAY.
www.propay.com
As a seller if you sign up your buyers do not have to.
Buyers retain all CC payment rights.
The biggest drawback is that if you process more than $1000 a month they want a "deposit" in case of chargebacks.
