Well, some of my pictures came out, anyway I have *got* to take a class in underwater (& otherwise) photography! Out of 11 rolls ( ! ) of film, about 36 pictures were halfway decent...
Taking my courage in my hands, I created my first-ever website, using a few of those pictures (no hysterical laughter, please). Here is the url for it:

Tegan: I did. Lots of it! As for the Hawkfish...look at the base of the fan coral. There is a clump of red flourishing there (not sure what this clump is). At the lower left of the red clump, between it & the coral, you can see a little red & white Hawkfish peeking out.

bunnicula - Those were great!! Thanks for sharing them. Since I've never been diving, I always enjoy seeing the underwater life that someone else has experienced. The vivid colors of the fish are amazing. IMO, you were very brave to be that close to the shark that was in one of your pics. I would have lost it right there.
While viewing the pic of the lodge you stayed in, I was thinking how nice it must be for the couple that own and run it. They are fortunate enough to live and earn an income in such a beautiful place and be able to enjoy what it offers anytime they wish. Others, like yourself, have to save up to be able to enjoy this special vacation, while they live it day by day.
Really happy to hear you enjoyed yourself so much. Thanks again for sharing with us.

Mybidness: I'm saving my shekels even now...
LindaK: the sad thing is, that if tourism doesn't pick up again they *could* lose it We were their first guests since the dive shop's last group was there in July! Fiji had a coup last May and people are being scared away by that. The shop had a group there in *June* for goodness sake, and had absolutely no problems. To give you an idea of the people putting on the coup: they cleaned up after themselves! This little country is poor and depends on tourism. Unemployment has been incredibly high there as businesses like the hotel we stayed at had to lay off staff due to lack of business (they hired them back for our visit).

I found it!!!
The Hawkfish that is.
My husband and I both stared at that and didn't see it. Isn't nature wonderful.
Love the shark picture.
When I was a kid we used to catch sand sharks and bring them on the beach to scare the other children. We were quite horrible children.
I used to love diving for snails, starfish and horseshoe crabs.
I grew up on the Bay and spent most summers nut brown from the sun and shriveled like a prune from being in the water so much.
I wish I could go diving but I don't think with my asthma I could.
