12 of 13 miners have been found alive. They are being brought up right now. What a blessing!

Wonderful for them and their families - I'm sure this has been a roller coaster night for them after the first of the 13 was found dead. I wonder how many of them will return to workking in the mines. If I remember correctly, only PA miners from the 2001 accident did.

How wonderful! Earlier I'd heard that one body had been found and that they had slim hope for the others. Great to hear of a good ending for this.

And the rolleer coaster ride just took a horrible dip. Turns out that the original report of 12 being found alive was not correct. Only one of the miners has actually survived and is in critical condition. I can't imagine what those families are going have gone thru this day. My heart goes out to them.

Man, Fenix, I just saw this report! The families must be crushed. I read it at the BBC News site and, thinking they might be behind in the news, checked out the CNN site and saw that it was true. My heart goes out to them.

Miners weren't permitted to unionize and there's a history of safety complaints at that mine. I sure hope they made a pile of money while in operation because they're going to need it all now.

180 violations in the last three inspections. Why was this mine open? Are miners cheaper than canaries? Now watch this corporation hide behind bankruptcy?

Wow. I got up this morning and the headling of the Dayton Daily News was "They're Alive!" with lots of happy pictures and stories of the rescue. I was really happy to hear everyone was all right. Then on the drive home, I heard the truth.

I can see the TV news wanting to be the first to report sketchy news, but a newspaper? The DDN never had much credibility with me, but they're utter garbage in my estimation now!

Replay - you have to understand that EVERY new angency was reporting that all were found alive last night. There was a nearly 3 hour windown between when the incorrect info went out and when the corrected info was released. If your paper went to press during that time, it is hardly their fault. Blame the idiot that jumped on his cell phone with incorrect info to the families.

I can easily understand how in their hopes that they were alive....they'd could jump to that conclusion. Just a mistake....nothing intentional, imo. Still extremely hurtful to the families/friends.

WHO didn't "ALLOW" it? It's always been my understanding that when a union is trying to get 'in' anywhere....the workers make that decision....THEY vote to unionize or not.

and there's a history of safety complaints at that mine.

As there are at many/most facilities like this....even the above ground ones. That's what OSHA is supposed to prevent. They often fail.

I sure hope they made a pile of money while in operation because they're going to need it all now.

It was my understanding from CNN news that they'd just RE-OPENED this mine. So I doubt much money had been made off of it. PLUS new owners will be responsible.

Dave, I heard about all the violations this mine has received in the last 2 years. What is the punishments or fine for each? Who imposes them?

As she most often does LIAR_K is running her big ugly mouth without knowing what is really going on.

Next one of the phony NEOCONS will say like they do about our dead troops. "They signed a contract" or "They knew the danger of their job" and on and on with their phony BULL ROAR.

NEOCONS always blame the victims.

Another good reason to vote their AZZ out in 2006!!!!

TTT

....to see if the profe is willing to answer my question on just WHO wouldn't let them join the union.

profe words: "Miners weren't permitted to unionize."

Or if any other union supporter can answer....if you can tell me who kept them from organizing and forming a union in their mine.

Or any non-union supporter who can verify that my way of viewing how plants either decide to join the unions or not....is correct or not. I've always heard they vote on it themselves...is this NOT correct in this case.

LOL

gee peepa....I don't see one other person here who agrees with your LUNITIC 'take' on me blaming these miners.

Nope...never happened...only in YOUR mind. I pity you.....
It's just another figment of your own distorted reading ability...comprehension abilities. It's YOUR problem.

Oh and I don't lie. I support the Republican party and just like the dem party we don't agree on all the issues. But we still support the 'right' party.
I express both my OPINIONS and correct you on FACTS that you've so ignorantly stated....just like you have here in this thread.

Your credibility is about zero here, imo, even amoung the 'normal' dems.

But complain away...maybe you'll turn more undecideds to the party who does care abou America's future.

LIAR_K,
A FLAT OUT LIAR FAKE LIKE YOU SHOULDN'T EVEN BEGIN TO TALK ABOUT CREDIBILITY.

LIAR_K's KNOWLEDGE OF MINING IS DIGGING A POTATO.

LIAR_K GETS BLASTED EVERY TIME SHE OPENS HER UGLY MOUTH. SHE GETS EXPOSED AND MADE A FOOL OF FOR BEING THE LIAR SHE IS.

LIAR_K USING THE WORD CREDIBILITY IS AN EXAMPLE OF HOW LOST AND DELUSIONAL SHE IS.

COAL MINER LINDA WHAT A JOKE. THANKS FOR MY MORNING LAUGH.
