for an Italian buyer. I haven't had an Italian buyer in years. So since I do not accept Paypal any longer for International transactions. What is the easiest form of payment? I want good old US dollars.
Anyone's info would be appreciated!

PS OMG, my internet was down for 2 days, I was beginning to feel like a caged animal not being able to access my Ebay accounts or read vendio. Anyone else had this experience???

I have Italian bidders who pay with moneygram,I dont know where you are,but we have stores which will process Moneygram transactions, you just have to bring Id and the 'secret code ' he gives you.
There is no fee on your end.
AMEX money order is also good if he is close to an AMEX office.
In most cases,I just accept Paypal and make them take out insurance, with U-PIC ,if you file claim, the waiting period is longer as Italian post office is notoriously slow and incompetent.

Knock on wood: my Italian sales, thus far, have been fine. I usually accept PayPal or an international money order in USD. It is true, though, that the mail over there is slow and bad.

We ship to Italy around five or six times a year usually without incident. However other sellers have not been so fortunate as Italia Poste has a bad habit of "losing" any package that looks valuable. If you accept PayPal from Italy then you have a high probability of a reversed payment when your shipment is late or declared lost.

We haven't yet suffered that fate (touch wood) because we don't accept PayPal for sales to the EU. Rather we ask for a BIC + IBAN transfer which is usually free of charge to the sender & receiver (provided both bank accounts are within the EU/EEA). On receipt of payment we ship the item in a nondescript package with minimal info on the customs declaration. If the item is valuable then we may send it via courier or registered mail so it can't easily go "missing". The most expensive sale we shipped to Italy was around €950 and we shipped it in four pieces several days apart - it arrived intact and untouched by the grubby hands of Italian customs.

Google checkout. It's simple. It's 1000% safer than PayPal and they actually check for stolen credit cards prior to approving the transaction.

I use it for all of my international payments including Canada and the UK since PayPal won't allow you to block international payments if you accept Canada or the UK. I even encourage USA buyers to use it.

I love it and wouldn't think twice about opening an account.

LUV the Italians ....do not LUV their postal system, my experiences have been negative. Methinks the mail system in Italy might be controlled by the Corleone family.

Hi Stone,
Wow, thanks for that info. It completely slipped my mind about Google Checkout(a senior moment, I guess). So a question please. What if an item takes a hell of long time to arrive? Can the buyer file anything against me to recoup their funds???

I have never had it happen, but I am sure the answer to that would be yes. Don't forget, it's your responsibility to get the package to your buyer. Your responsibility doesn't end once you give the package to UPS, Fed Ex, USPS ect.... That is just your choice on how to get the package to your customer.

STONE, can you say on your auctions that you accept Google Checkout?

No. However, you can offer it to your buyers at the end of the auction in your end of auction notice (or invoice). For all of my international buyers, I simply send the invoice directly from Google Checkout.
