I knew it would happen, 10 people finally rated me and I only have 4.8 out of 5.0 on shipping and handling. I only charge exact postage plus a measly little 50 cents for handling!! Wait until the rate increase on Monday, the buyers will blame us for that for sure. I hope you are all doing well!

I just checked, and mine appeared today.
I feel like an Olympic swimmer
4.6...4.7....4.8
No fives for me. What's funny is the 4.8 for Communication. We send the WBN, Payment Received and then a Shipping notice with DC number.
I figure most of those people don't ever check their ebay messages!
I agree with the Fluff...not important!

I haven't checked mine, but the way I feel about it is that you're either going to sell the way you want to and try to make money or you sit and cry in your beer over your ratings. I never cared about my ratings on Amazon either. I haven't looked at them in years. If they throw me off, I'll go pick up cans for extra money.

I have 1 ID with 10 negatives and 1 with no negatives. If I run the same item on both it hardly ever makes any diference in the price and usually the higher price is the one with 10 negatives so I am sure not going to care about another rating to look at.

You know, you are all right. It is Friday, I went and did something fun, my stuff still sells, I still make money and almost no one is going to care about those silly stars. Thanks to you all!

I discovered that you can block it so that people can't see your ratings, I found it in preferences.

Oh boy. I just checked mine. I have 12, and they're all 5.0s. I know my comeuppance is on its way, though, so I'll bask in this for a bit.

hwahwa: Scroll over the star and it tell you the exact number, ie., 4.6.
LtRay: eBay Boards indicate there is a glitch in the star system (ebay's solar system is somewhat glitchy all the time, no?) and some stars are not showing at all. Of course they are aware of this problem..blah, blah.

I've got 5's in all categories but nothing in description...strange. Why am I not surprised that there's a "glitch" in the new and improved program?

With 29 of the new ratings, I have 4.9/5.0 across the board. I had a jerk buyer that gave me a neutral for buyers remorse, and I'm pretty sure he gave me a bad rating in all catagories.

Well, was I ever wrong. Scrolling OVER the stars, I have between 4.8 and 5.0 scores. I guess that's more realistic, huh. The gold stars that show in each category were all shining brightly, so I made an incorrect assumption (not my first).

I think it's odd that there's no rating for quality of packaging. When I buy, I view that as almost the most important thing. Some people make packages out of used pizza boxes or worse!

I agree pyourdon, I think packaging is very important. I am not concerned about the rating for myself, what concerns me is that I would really like to know what I can do to improve my service. The shipping cost and time don't bother me. Shipping from Canada mostly to the US, buyers are going to complain about those aspects. But the communication which I feel I can do nothing to improve, and item not as described, I would really like to know how it was not as I described it.

Sorry, I think I misread it. It was under General preferences, Reveiws and Guides.
Hide your Reviews and Guides helpfulness icon (earned after 100 helpfulness votes are received).
I think now that it is the "helpfulness" icon that you can hide, not the actual reviews.

If the rates are causing you mightmares, you could list everything on eBay Motors, the ratings not showing over there yet
Heres the real problem with this system. I sold something to fellow competitor last week. They left + feedback thanking ME for fast Payment and then dinged my shipping rate. I checked her listings and her postage prices are 2x what mine are. GRRRRR!

4.9 4.8 4.2 4.2
Our lowest are in shipping which are rates go by calculated..what they see is what we are charged. Maybe the blame should lie elsewhere. And shipping time. When the choose the cheapest rate to ship their items, choose no insurance, and then they expect the packages within 24 hours. Pay a little extra and you will get what you want. We ship the same day we receive the money...funny how they don't look at that one. Oh well not that important as long as the positives keep coming.

Not bad. Especially since I only ship Monday-Wednesday the weeks I have shows and considering that I'm not glued to the computer on those days either to write emails (most of which are really not necessary).
New approach: Send invoices to low FB buyers immediately, make sure postage paid is visible on packages, and not end auctions when I'm not going to be home 24/7.
Darn. I feel like I'm back in the corporate world with performance reviews daily!
BUT I have to confess that I just left a lukewarm positive for a seller (overall more positive than negative). Then gave them deserved lower ratings for shipping time (took 10 days after instant PP payment to get in mail) and high shipping rates ($6 over actual) and communication (told me to check the listing for when they would mark it shipped!)
Ahem.

There's no way I'd want to be a perfect 5 across the board! I think that's just opening yourself up for some new buyer to come along and expect perfection. When they don't get perfection they're liable to slam you good. I'll take my ratings the way they are. As it is I ship within 24 hours and I still only have 4.6 on shipping time!

I thought I'd take a big hit for shipping once a week, but seems I am faring as well as you are Cheryl - 4.9, 4.8, 4.6 and 4.8. I think these ratings are nothing to be too concerned about if you do your job and have nice products.

Plus, I don't think buyers know how to get the actual ratings. They only see the stars and 4.9 looks pretty much like 5.0. I would like to see who gave what ratings to see if they are being realistic.

I agree, Merrie. And I don't like that I have to go in and type my own username to get my ratings (the 5-star ones). How many of them, for things that aren't high end, are going to go to the trouble of checking those danged stars?

Adele - Where are you typing your own user name to see your stars? All you have to do is click on your feedback number on any of your listings and there it is.

5.0, 4.7, 4.9, 4.7
Still think it should show by the buyer's name what they "voted." Would help to figure out if there really is something that needs to be corrected. Now it is really pretty useless information both to buyer and seller.
