Most Carnival glass was not marked.
Post a clear picture of the pattern for any help in ID'ing it.

You'll see marks for Northwood and Imperial Glass Co.

But, you're right - most makers can only be identified once you can identify the pattern.

Speaking of Carnival glass - can someone please answer a question for me. I have alot of glass that was won at the coin toss at a carnival in the 50's. What is it called besides cheap glass?

I so want to name it carnival glass but know that would be so misleading.

TIA, Louise

A picture would help. There was a lot of glass made and given away in the 50's.

It could be Pressed Glass which was & still is cheap.

Edited because I:
Forgot to mention you can usually see the seams in pressed glass.

Mcjane - I wouldn't be too quick to paint glass made in molds as "cheap." Much of it is, but there are significant exceptions.

And - earlier pieces - known as Early American Pattern Glass or EAPG - can be rather expensive. I consider anything over $100 for a small piece "expensive."

I agree with the others though - a few pics would go a long way to helping you ID the stuff.

Wayne, Thanks for the info & I stand corrected. I thought all pressed glass was an inexpensive way to make glass items.

I think that the glass herbscrafts is speaking of, won at carnivals, is probably pressed glass.

Thanks for the posts. I don't have photos since the stuff is still packed. I was just wondering if the glass that was at the coin toss at a carnival had a name. I am sure it is cheap and pressed, but if I remember back to the 50's, 60's alot of it was unique too.

Thanks again, Louise
