I'm just getting started, really. I'm working on finding some items, setting them up, and edging off into things slowly. Today, when I logged in, I noticed a promotion for Sales Manager Inventory Edition, and was checking that out. I guess I'm using the Merchandising Edition right now.
So, I'm wondering - for those of you eBay-ers out there - which edition you all prefer, and why.
Also, regarding stores, I hear different suggestions:
- wait until you have built your business
- do it immediately
Any suggestions there? If you hadn't yet built your store, and were just about to build one, would you prefer the eBay stores, or Vendio, and why?

First off, what type of sales are you doing? More than likely if you are already signed up with Vendio it is for the SMME (Sales Manager Merchandising Edition). The SMME version works for the majority of sellers that sell different type items. SMIE (Sales Manager Inventory Edition) is based more for people who have inventory type sales, in other words, sell multiples of the same item all the time and are mainly new items. The SMME program fit's the majority of sellers, the SMIE is very specefic and also has a little harder learning curve.
As for stores. I have a ebay store. You can open a basic store at any time. It's very simple and creating store listing's is just like making a auction listing. Don't have any experience with Vendio sales but if you actually plan on selling anything, use the ebay store.
If you have not done it yet, DOWNLOAD SMPro. This is a free program you get when you subscribe to any of the Sales Manager program's. It is a off line listing creation tool and allows you to launch listing's in bulk. It's a HUGE TIME SAVER!!! You could as a example create let's say 30 auction listing's and 20 store listing's, attach the pictures, everything. After you are done you upload the "batch" online all at one time. So unlike online creation tools there is no wait time between screens when making individual listing's. Once your ready to upload them just click upload batch and you can be doing other thing's while the process takes place. I waited almost a year after I started using Vendio until I tried the SMPro and god I wish someone had smacked me up side the head for not doing it earlier. It is by far the easiest and quickest listing creation tool I have found. Try it, I think you will like it.

Mike's right; those of us who sell lots of different things tend to use the merchandising edition. Maybe I can't speak for all collectibles sellers, though.

Good stuff Thanks for your time.
Like I said, I'm brand new. I'm working on locating sources and doing item research to find things I feel I can get to "sell through" pretty well. I'm not like the well-established folks here that have an inventory list of 1000 items not YET anyway ... but I do hope to get there.
This is mainly going to be a weekend hobby for me, but something I may spend some time on during the week too. I've got a great job, but I'd like to increase my earnings ... maybe free myself from my job. That'd be ideal but I don't see it happening for a while, if at all.
Once again, thanks for your input. I really appreciate it!
