THIS IS A GENERAL QUESTION - NOT SPECIFIC TO SELLING OF ANY TYPE OF ITEMS.
I'm curious to hear what others opinions are on 1) the best time of day for an auction to end. 2) The best days of the week to have an auction end. 3) Best times of the month (i.e. beginning / middle / end)? 4) Best months of the year?
My opinion on best time of day is 8 to 10PM EST.
My opinion on days - ranked best to worst:
1) Monday
2) Sunday
3) Tuesday
4) Wednesday
5) Saturday
6) Thursday
7) Friday
As far as times of the month I always seem to do well at the beginning of the month, okay during the middle of the month, and horrible at the end of the month.
I have yet to complete a year of selling full time so I won't rank the months. However my observations are:
July - Good
August - good
September - Awesome
October - Awesome
November - Not near what I expected - disappointing
December - Disappointing
January - Better than December for me!
Febraury - better than expected
March - Horrible
April - So far so good.

I find that every hour of every day of every month of every year is different. I can't really predict when the best times are.
Oh wait...the best times were about 7 years ago before ebay went public and ruined the whole place.

Time of Day - 5 to 8pm Pacific Time, in my opinion
Day of the week - I find Sunday to be the best day
Best time of month? It isn't a factor for me as I list weekly, but if I were going to list monthly, I would list so the auctions end on the first Sunday after the 1st of the month. I always seem to get a decent number of can I pay after the first emails.

I think people start bidding around 3 days before payday, which for many is around the 1st, 15th or 30th of the month. (I know I always did when I was into buying more.)

Taking a look back at all of my sales records that I have kept, here is what I have over the past 6 years.
Time of the month? Non factor. People get paid at most jobs weekly or bi-weekly and seem to budget ok.
Day of the week? Again, non-factor if you watch your ending times.
Ending times? During the week, tues thru fri, ending time in the afternoon seem to work best. During weekend and Mondays, evening ending times work best.
Months ranked best to worst.
1) October
2) November
3) January
4) December
5) September
6) February
7) May
8) June
9) March
10) July
11) April
12) August
