I remember they had link to get someones information; their phone number.. I cannot find where you can do that now
Thing is this, I got a phone call from an 'ebayer' I guess? and it was about an item she wanted.. she did say she was in CA, and I couldn't quite get what she wanted, but that she didn't know how to 'do PayPal'
OK the question is this. Before, I thought the seller (me) would get an email saying they (ebay) gave my phone number to a bidder or buyer. I guess that is not true any longer?
I told her to do the Buy it Now, and my email would come up. So far, haven't heard anymore. But what upsets me is I never received any emails saying my contact info was being given
Anyone know how that works now? any links to 'Contact info' (specifically the one that will give your phone number) because I can't find it.
Thanks!

Go to the main search page. On the left side of the page, it will be the last item on the list. It will send the other person your contact info if you request theirs. Make sure your email address is current with Ebay. Also, check your spam folder.

Thanks Sparkz, I found that one, and it also says that the person has to have had or in the process (bidding) of a transaction, they need an auction number.
I don't know, no I don't have a spam blocker, and have been checking over and over and not a thing from eBay.
Funny thing is, they called my second line (fax) and I have my main number as contact, Also, they used my first name, one that I don't ever use, except of course registering, on my bank account, licenses etc.. otherwise I go by my nickname Always, so it had to be ebay

Near - If they pulled your contact info off of ebay, you are correct, you would have recieved notification. This type of person is exactly why my number is unlisted and ebay address is a mail drop.

Near...If you posted your email address anywhere in the description, and also your city location, they could possibly have obtained the information from 411 or White Pages, especially if the email addy is the same as the one you have on file with Vendio.

fenix it bothers me, and I'm a little more than ticked that I haven't received any email from ebay about pulling contact info.
Yeah the funny thing is she called the fax number, and there is one phone hooked up, but no caller ID
No sparkz I don't have my email out there anymore, and in all my auctions and my ebay store, I have never put my city. I 'get away' with just putting USA on my listings.
I don't know, but I guess I'm going to have to try and get a hold of ebay somehow. Its starting to really bother me now.

And how is a phone number connected to an email address?? I haven't learned that one yet, would someone please enlighten me...

Near - I don't think they got the number from ebay. The fact that you say the number they called is not the number you have registered with ebay says that they went thru some extracurricular activity to hunt you down. Since they have your address from the EOA notices its quite possible they used a reverse directory to get a number for you. (Most people don't bother paying extra to get their fax line unpublished).

I'd love to be able to get a phone number for someone, all emails bounce. All I can do is send a message through eBay. I'm involved in this transaction too, but can't get contact info.

fenix, that is the weird part, there has been no transaction with this person. I know she said she was in CA. I checked, I have had about 10 transactions this weekend and none for CA. All previous have paid PayPal, as most did this weekend.
powerwebmedia, like sparkz said, go to the main search page and its on the bottom of the left side.

Thanks, I got his contact information from the main search page!
So I called the number to let him know his emails were bouncing and to tell him the details of what to add to my purchase, but the answering machine cut me off after about 5 seconds.
So, emails bounce, the phone goes unanswered, answering machine cuts me off...

powerwebmedia, did you receive an email from ebay when you got his info? and did it say that he would be getting one with your info? or something like that

NTS, maybe its a returning customer? Did you sell the item (or have it listed) out of your store? Maybe they couldnt remember your user id name and want the item and went about a wild backazz way of getting your phone number? They had to have all your info already to find your fax number - dont you think?
The part about not knowing how to "paypal" sounds scary, though. Scams gone from email to phone now with ebay?

Hi dbl
I don't think it was any returning customer. Mike answered it , and he asked if she was calling about the store (off ebay that we have, and this phone is NOT on there either) she told him no, it was ebay related, so he gave the phone to me, and she started asking about the kids shoes I have, and how she needed them by Saturday, I said go use the BIN and we'll work it out. Well, she asked what my email address was, and I told her, if she uses the BIN, ebay will send you an email with my email address. Thats when I hit me, how did she got the phone number! I've checked and rechecked and anyone that did order from CA, they used PayPal. So I am still trying to figure this out, but the more I do, I start getting a little peeved.

yeah, nts. try to not to let it bother you too much or clog thoughts for the day. If all you gave her was your email address, doesnt sound like they could do too much. I might change PP password just to comfort myself though. - Who knows? Maybe she got delayed or interupted and you will soon be getting a sale out of it? People are so weird, and you really dont know what they are doing. Ebay's not a big priority to some buyers, ...but then again, to go out of their way to call you on the phone...you'd think they wanted something?
But what?
But again...I would try to leave it alone and see what happens.

Ok I think I found the person who called..... or not
But she used a BIN last week, and sent email stating she was sending a check, and today, she used the BIN again on something. So I wrote and did a total with combined shipping, and also asked if she was the person who called.
Haven't heard back, but I still don't see where she got my phone number.. oh well, the person was newly registered on Mar 17 the day she used the first BIN.

NearTheSea, when I requested the seller's contact info I received an email with all his details, and yes, he should have received one with all my details too according to the email from eBay. When I tried to phone him, his answering machine picked up after four rings then only let me record about 4 or 5 seconds and cut me off.
I also sent a message to him through "ask seller a question." Looks like that got to him finally becuase he sent me a new PayPal invoice for the additional items.
