I know this has been discussed more than 1 time but I think it was more than 20 days ago, so rather trying to find it I thought I would ask.

An auction for a large vase ended last night. Last minute bidder wants me to use his FX # to ship it 2 day air. I told him I would be happy to do it using my account. He writes back saying that he gets huge discounts on his and hopes I will be accomodating. TOS says priority.

I know this is a no no but why don't we do this? My senior memory is on vacation. Thanks, Louise

if this is not his fed exp account, and the owner of that account refuses to pay, then Fed exp will come after you.
Say his account is really his employer's account and their auditors find out he is using it for personal delivery .
One way to get around it is not to use your address as return addr.
Others may have more to say.

Stop is right. There are a ton of reasons that other here will give you. All of which can be circumvented by simply putting the buyers info in both the Ship To and Shipped From slots.

One more huge reason to not use another person account is the scammers in Africa are stealing FedEx account numbers and using them to have items shipped to them for free and sticking you with the bill once the rightful owner discovers the problem. Usually the crooks insist upon using their own "so called" accounts which ends up shipping to some USA brokerage who in turn sends the stolen items to them over seas.

I don't use fedex, but from what I understand if you ship using someone else's account you are not the shipper, the owner of the account is technically the shipper.

They have proof that they ship something to themselves, but you don't really have proof that you shipped something to them.

Who cares if you don't have proof that you shipped something to them? You have proof that they received it, and that's all that is important. Ebay's biggest sellers, the ones that use dropshippers, never have the merchandise in their possession and can't prove the have ever shipped anything to a buyer. But with the tracking number from FedEx, they can prove the customer received it.

If they have good feedback, I would do it. You can call FedEx and ask them to verify who the account belongs to. They will only tell you if the info you give matches. They won't tell you the name or address if it is different.
It is no more of a risk than accepting a credit card payment.

If you are worried about it, tell them they have to send a call tag for it. Fedex will come with a label and take the box away.

This is interesting, say buyer files paypal complaint that they never receive the goods and you the seller whip out the fed exp tracking number.
Then the buyer said wait a minute, this may be a good tracking number but it is from me to me,so??
what would paypal do??
Dropshipping is different,it is from third party to buyer, not buyer to himself.
Anyway, something to consider if you use dropshipper, paypal said ship within 7 days of payment receipt,so if your dropshipper is slow or out of stock or ship late, you may not get the tracking number in time to give to paypal.
Some one posted last year she lost 1700 dollars worth of goods that way.
