Ok, I just posted something to sell. I've waited an half an hour, and when I do a seach (even in the exact words I put) nothing still comes out of my auction. Just curious, how long does it take for Ebay for it "refresh" its new auctions?

Yeah, I know, I might be a tad impatient, but this is my first auction as a seller.
I'm excided.

I may not understand it correctly (or they may have changed it), but some time ago I got the idea (from eBay) that they do them more or less by categories...a continuous round and round; so it will depend on when they last did the category your auction is in. Clear as mud?

could take as long as 6 hours to get it into search.

That is what your money is paying for - to list something that nobody can find.

That is 1 reason why yahoo is better, You list your auction, and it is in the "search", right away.People will find it right away,..

It is too bad that we pay ebay MORE money to list, and then the buyers can not find it for 2-6 hours.

Something wrong with this picture????

Good luck on your 1st listing/auction.

Yes, it does take awhile. The same thing is said about the search notifications too. Sometimes, by the time I get my notifications, someone has come in and BINNED it before I could.

It's called indexing and it can take a long while if you just missed the last indexing. I think that is why eBay does not have a one or two day listing duration option.

There are no stupid questions, only stupid people. How can a set of nouns, verbs, and stuff be stupid? They are inanimate.

Thanks everybody. Well, I listed 5 auctions and 2 of them have bids already.
Hopefully, everything will go smoothly.

Hope, hope.

If you already have bids, it means your opening price was too low. I hope you put a reserve on them?

not really, some folks realise there will be more bids coming so they just want to bookmark it so it will show up on their my ebay list.

To avoid a too low opening bid, I always search my item for previous sales of same or similar items.
Don't forget to check completed auctions. Currently running auctions are not a good indication. Final prices are what counts. I don't use Reserve prices, turns off a lot of bidders.
Just set the lowest price you're willing to take and let it roll.

The last 2 times I listed items, I started them at 11 p.m. (East Coast time) & they din't show up in searches until around 10 a.m. the next day! That's 11 hours!

I did put the starting bid low, but its at a price that I will make a profit on it. There are several auctions of the same item as mine. Most of them have high prices. So I figured to start it at a low price(but not so low that its hurting myself)and see how it goes. Right now I'm happy with how its going and I still have a couple days before they end. So, we shall see.

I just put up a bunch of stuff for $.01. Everything has bids, everything is either in or near the profit range with 3 days to go. I also upped my s&h to $3, so that helps quite a bit with the profit area for me... Anyhoo... The $.01 no reserve seems to be working well for me...
