Hi- it's the newbie here again. Can someone tell me what the options are for shipping a package internationally? I'm assuming Priority Mail doesn't apply to international shipping. What do you use to ship a package to someone internationally?

AIRMAIL PARCEL POST (4 to 7 days)
or Global priority mail (2-5 days) also in flat rate envelopes or Global express mail,
(i think it's 2-3 days ) there is also economy mail but that takes over a month...not good.
I recomend Airmail and Global priority,
please note global P cant be insured.
Parcel post is great if the buyer can wait up to 2 weeks in the worst case (most of my packages average 10 days)
many buyers will ask you to mark box as "gift" since they have to pay duty and taxes which can range up to 38 % of value
(maybe even higher, 23 % is average for most countries where I ship to)
please dont be disscouraged by most of the posts here about Int'l buyers,
they all pay with credit cards (99.99% of mine ) and use Bidpay.com which is safe,
and are more polite and easier to work with them most domestic buyers
you have to go to the post office anyway, why not do some world wide business
you can check all rates on usps website
(on top it will say calcutale postage, and
you can choose domestic or internation postage calculator)
some countries have limits on what you can send into them (also on the website)
you should check that out before sending anything "weird", it ranges from medicine, leather through magazines and natural/herbal products.
if you choose not to lie on the int'l boxes
(againts the law might I ad)
please make sure that you mark that in your auction description so your buyers dont get hit with large charge or get very angry at you

Just to add to what Stanleymu said, go to your post office and ask for Publication 51 (Sept 2001) "International Postal Rates and Fees". It is very useful.
In addition, the USPS website (at www.usps.com) is a great resource.
If you know the weight of your package, you can look up both the domestic and international rates.

mypostingid is correct. The best place to figure shipping in the usps site. Also, if shipping to Canada, never mark the item as a gift unless it really is. The US government is now watching for those types of packages with scrutny. Always fill out the international customs forms truthfully.
