I just had a email from i-escrow regarding an auction I had end a week ago. Apparently the buyer is requesting to use it for her purchase (a paperback book which sold for under $10). I don't have escrow 'checked' off on my listings and I've never used it before so I want to know from those of you who've used it what you thought of it. Any problems or have they all been trouble free transactions? Is it worth using on a low $ item?

I've used it a few times for items over $200.00. Can't imagine why anyone would want to use it for an item under $20.00. The fee is a flat $2.50 for any transaction under $100.00 and it's negotiable as to whether buyer or seller pays it or it's split between the two. The buyer does have the right to return the item for any reason no matter what your TOS say.

I used it once for a book and they scamed me. Read it in a day and then said they didnt like the story in it and wanted to return it. so since i used the escrow I had to take the return. I have not used them since.

It doesn't take long. Iescrow mails you a check the same day the buyer notifies them to release the payment to you. The buyer does have an inspection period, I think the default is 3 days; I know it can be longer if agreed upon by both parties, I'm not sure if it can be shorter. The buyer pays iescrow before you ship and iescrow notifies you payment has been received by them. This is a matter of hours.

I used it once without trouble, but never again. It is a complete worry to use it! There are too many ways they can scam you. Think about how it will be to send that off and then >hope< that they approve it. Made me sick. You should demand payment by a standard method because you didn't list escrow on the listing and they shouldn't expect it!

Seller has the right to refuse I-Escrow for payment,
and Items like books I would be super skeptical on useing it buyer reads or copys what they want in the 3 or so days and request a refund. No chance of me takeing these types of payments on reading material or computer software and such items at all.

Thank you all for your information.
New question - Has anyone ever cancelled a 'escrow' transaction after it has been started by the buyer? I just received a follow up email from i-escrow claiming "... that you have been entered into an i-Escrow Transaction with XXXX for..."
I've decided it is not worth the hassle for a $7 book and I want to cancel escrow. How do I stop this from going through?

Make sure they pay the escrow fee if they are requesting it. It's a couple dollars or so.
