After over 2 years of selling on Ebay I started selling last week at the flea market again. I had forgotten how nice it is to sell an item for Cash Money.

No worry about deadbeat bidders, checks clearing, item returned for a dumb reason,or negative feedback.

Most of the items I sold were items that had been run on Ebay and not sold. Most brought more money than I was asking on Ebay.

I will still run a few specialty items that sell good on Ebay but for the most part I am going back to the fun way to sell.

GOOD FOR YOU. Now all you need is a computer and a phone line at the flea market, and you'll be in business. I recently tried this in a local flea market, and I was offered about 250 items to sell via my "computer internet stuff...can you really sell there?". At 25% commission, + all listing fees up front, I'm selling my feedback rating for a fortune....I will be putting ads in the local papers soon........

pnth I watched 3 people try that in the last year and all have failed.

I have always done good selling at the flea market Ebay was just better money for awhile.

I think prices have leveled off now for most items. So it is easier for me to sell 2 or 3 days a week at the flea market and sell the same amount or more that takes 7 days on Ebay.

toolhound You have indoor fleamarkets in your area? If not-how do you handle the winter season? Even if it doesn't snow, it can get pretty cold, windy or rainy.

toolhound, sounds like you've got a great fleamarket in your area. I'm jealous! I stopped going to mine because:

* I make LOTS more on eBay
* I don't have to worry about shoplifters
* I don't have to worry about getting gunned down
* I don't freeze my butt off in the winter or fry in the summer (New Orleans is brutal)
* I don't have to put up with hung over half drunk bums asking me out for a date
* My old booth is now taken, and the only open one is next to an idiot who blasts obscene hard core gangsta rap all day

Have fun!

Some stuff sells better at the Flea Market
Some stuff sells better on eBay

The trick is knowing which is which

I'll Be at Ohlone College Flea Market tomorrow, in Fremont.

mzalez, wow worry about getting gunned down, drunks? I wouldn't sell there either. I've never been to a flea market like that!

I am lucky enough to live in Florida and our flea markets are great summer and winter.

I agree with honestjonstoys
some things still do better on Ebay, but less and less things everyday.

I don't sell at our "swap meet" very often anymore because it takes me 2-3 hours to wipe all the dust off my items when I return home. Plus, setting up and tearing down the display can be VERY labor-intensive (& yes, you REALLY feel this when it's hot or cold). Then there are the "hagglers", who bascially want everything for a quarter. When I put stuff on Ebay the WORLD sees it, instead of just a few hundred people who walk by on that Sunday.

I thought you could not sell your feedback rating? So what do you do...run one of those I AM LEAVING EBAY auctions?
