Pick up a used hard drive from someone who has upgraded to a higher capacity. Set the jumper to slave and install it as drive d:\ in your old computer. Boot up from dos with a floppy and copy all your pictures (and anything else you want to keep) from drive c: to the new drive d: You can then install the drive in your new computer as drive d: and access all your pictures. If you have to reformat the drive in your old computer, you won't lose anything.
