NELSON USED DOZENS of fake personas he created on eBay and Yahoo, and multiple accounts on online payment service PayPal, to dupe auction users. The fraud was simple: accept payment from an auction winner and never deliver the merchandise.
So maybe Paypal should have limited the number of accounts this guy had !!!!

PrayPal thrives off of idiots like that guy. PrayPals TOS allow them to not be accountable for thieves that use their service so why would they care. They made a lot of money off of this jerk. Point is that as long as they're making money they don't care how, hence the online gambling case.

he had multiple accounts when u do this its "supposed" to be simple to use paypal for fraud.....a fraudsters heaven....wonder if ebay will fix this!
That guy had been ripping people off since 1998. Started on Yahoo- various IDs, all linked. Moved to other auction sites- same thing. Then he got 'smart' and started utilizing PayPal and Yahoo payments.
His typical auction format was 3 day- ending on a weekend or his favorite, a holiday. That way, he had a few extra days to get gone.
Remember when PayPal would cover any loss? About Oct 2000? One of the reasons they stopped is they lost a TON of money when they had to reimburse folks for auctions Nelson was running. There are even websites about that fiasco (I first saw Damons name responding to them)
I bought from him - he was using the name Cedric Nelson - and other names. I bought something right after the all encompassing protection wasnt offered or announced that it had been discontinued. I was hot.
Nelson flaunted his little adventure. When he was busted, he left a pregnant wife with nothing. I see his goofy pic and get sick.
Myself and others had evidence who he was and what IDS were involved, he kept going. He went on for another year before he was caught...... and believe me EBay, Yahoo, Ubid, and alot of other sites knew about him too.
Same carp with the auction sites- 'cant release info' and they knew. They had his cc info and wouldnt release it so he could be tracked. He had dozens of IDs set up and waiting to use , and would have used them too if people didnt get involved.
Oh, Nelson made his dent in PayPal's pocket and in EBay's and others in claims, but they sure didnt stop him nearly fast enough.
It took NJ and Illinois Attorney Generals to be involved before it ended.
Yaeh, he was a smart hick. And now he has a best friend named Bubba.

Well maybe the jerk that PrayPal helped to steal from me and 10+ other people will be able to steal more and more money from unsuspecting people thanks to PrayPals fraud encouragement. PrayPal just lets people like this go free and cost them customers but I guess they're making plenty of money off of scam artists such as this that they can afford to let it continue.
