I understand your inundated with people asking for help, and this seems trivial

BUT, I had a person use a Buy it Now on June 5. Sent her EOA, saying PayPal is an option to pay. Heard nothing from buyer.
Finally yesterday, I got a demanding email saying, 'I paid, where's my item???'
Well this person hasn't paid, so I ask buyer, how they paid. She replied right back that since it was a BIN she used PayPal
Well she didn't, I went through the whole history THREE TIMES and there is nothing from her.
I told her this, and now she says that she got rid of the receipt from PayPal and will wait until her Visa statement comes in... HUH?

I told her that she could go to her PayPal account and look at her past transactions and see if she had misspelled my email (its happened)

OK Question, if you are a BUYER ONLY, do those accounts have a search feature or advanced search? You would think it would be that simple, but I have a Premier or Business account, so I don't know what other accounts would look like

Any thoughts on what to tell her?

Thanks Damon

Damon is in Anaheim.

A personal account still has a history tab. Your buyer should be able to locate the alledged payment with the history tab and verify the email address payment was sent to.

Give her a day and if no payment is received, file NPB and go from there.

I don't think it is possible to "lose" or "remove" a record of a payment from PayPal, as it would be in their history. It might be a tactic to make you think that they paid and there is a problem, but they really might not have paid. I would e-mail her telling them to look in their history.

The personal account doesn't have all the search features the Premier/Business account has but still the buyer should be able to find it.

Even with a personal account it shouldn't take a rocket scientist to find out if they've paid you. They only need to click on their history tab, and select "Show Payments Sent" for the last week, month, or year. They can then use the browser's 'find' feature to locate the seller's or business name. I just tried this with my personal account, works fine.

I should be easy, but then I've dealt with some people that probably have to call in a team of technical support to plug their computer into the electrical outlet. I've also dealt with some that swear the check's in the mail when it isn't.

Thanks you guys. Uaru LOL about buyers that need to call in a tech team to plug in their computer

Ok after many (too many) emails, I finally was able to get her to go to her account. She did send it, but with the wrong email address, one letter TOO many.

the problem now, she says, I don't know how this stuff works... but she says she paid directly through her Visa, so its a completed sale. So she will have to chargeback or reverse her Visa on this one, before she pays me, (which I guess I can understand, since she did pay once, but NOT me)

So if she does do a chargeback, I would HOPE that it does not effect me, I mean how could it, since it didn't hit my account, but most likely cyberspace.... I wonder if PayPal will have me take the fall for it... though how could they... I don't know.. I honestly have never had a problem with PayPal, I do read that others have, I sure don't want one now.

When I have used PayPal for purchasing on ebay, I use whats in the account, though it is connected to a bank account, I use the funds that are there, and sure I know that buyer only would have to use a credit card or bank account to buy. I just hope this will not effect my account. I believe at worst she can give me grief with neg. fb on ebay. But heck its her mistake... I would think that most people ( I Do) would copy the email of the seller and paste it into PayPal when they are paying, not type it out, too many mistakes can be made that way

Thanks all

Kinda chocks me up inside and makes me feel good, when I get emails like this.

Dear Stoney,

My wife & I just finished reading your story - including the sickening conclusion - and we are DISGUSTED with PayPal and what they did to you!!!!! We are SO very sorry!!!!!!! You can be SURE that as of today we will no longer EVER use PayPal's services again - AND, we will be SURE to tell everyone we know not to use them either!!!!!

I wonder if there is some way (if no one else has done it yet) to email all your past clients & get everyone to band together to help you somehow (with all the hundreds of people YOU helped, I'm sure each person could come up with a few dollars to help you)!?! WE will be GLAD to try to help if you would like us to! Please let us know what you think & what you would like us to do!

Actually all she needs to do is to cancel the payment she made to the wrong address and resend the payment to the correct one. Good luck on trying to explain that to the buyer, for some reason I don't think you are selling your item to a MENSA member.

Wouldn't it be great if you could have a selection on your auctions like this:

__ Will Ship to the US only.
__ Will Ship international.
__ Will accept escrow.
__ Won't accept escrow.
__ Will accept bidders with IQ's under room temperature.
__ Won't accept bidder with IQ's under room temperture.

uaru you got that right LOL! this person, is first pissed, then totally DUH when it comes to 'oh I have an account I can look at?'

She tells me she cannot find anywhere there that she can cancel it. (yes I did explain she can cancel ) This was done supposedly on June 5th, so I don't know, is the cancel 'link' gone by this time?

Yeah those darned options, I think I see them on mine, but only about 25% (probably less ) actually know that they are there, and don't even get me going on your written description I had one gal email me and ask me how tall it was, when it was right there in Bold and large font and I had to answer her.... makes ya wonder..

It would probably be gone. I think I remember a limit on the cancelation time of 14 days but I'm not sure.

fnewbrough I think I remember a limit on the cancelation time of 14 days but I'm not sure.

If you sent a payment to an address that isn't registered with PayPal you have up to 30 days to cancel it. After 30 days it cancels automatically.

The seller's refund is something different. The refund feature has a 14 day window, the seller can refund the entire payment for any reason they choose within 14 days and not pay any fees on the transaction.
