PLEASE!!! I am a seller and also a buyer. I do NOT use Paypal as a seller..only as a buyer. Four days ago, as a seller, I had one high bidder send me payment through paypal..without even asking me! I still have not heard from this person directly after asking her to cancel the payment and to send me a check.
NOW..the problem. For the first time in many months, I bid on and won an auction. I went the Paypal route..just like always. Instead of taking the money from my credit card like they always have, they subtracted it from the payment this woman sent ME..that I didn't want! I do NOT want a credit with Paypal..I want my cash for the auction she won. There is no way to contact Paypal. How do I get out of this. Now the woman is going to see that the money she sent me has been partially used. What do I do???

I don't think the woman will see that her money is used. The only problem is that payments from a PayPal account (as opposed to a credit card) have next to no protection in case the seller doesn't deliver.

paypal always take from your paypal fund first before it charges your credit card,it has been a feature of paypal for years.
paypal also has a feature which allow you to return the payment in full without fee incurred within 30 days,if you have done that immediately after you learned your buyer has sent you payment, then you would not be in this situation .
thchase is right, only you know her payment has been partially used .
you can try sending her x dollars so after paypal fee,she will get her amount back in full, she would never know what has happened??

once the transaction is made, sender cannot cancel payment, you the recipient can hit the return button to return the payment without fee.

I looked everywhere ...can find NO button to click to not accept. The space said COMPLETED..that's all. I NEVER authorized Paypal to take money from this "fund" to pay for my auction. My agreement with them is to use my credit card.
I have written this woman...many emails..she doesn't answer me. I will not send her the item untill I receive payment in the mail. I told her that Paypal used her funds to pay for my auction..still no reply. I also told her that she can send me payment minus the $8.75. I never authorized Paypal to accept money for me. I never told this woman that I used paypal. This is her problem..not mine. I still have the item. If I don't hear from her soon, I am just going to offer it to the second high bidder. She can take it up with Paypal. She started this. I don't need the stress...

annekila I looked everywhere ...can find NO button to click to not accept.

If you have a Premier/Business account just click on the transaction and on the detail page you'll find a 'refund' link at the bottom of it. The money is returned and you'll be charge no fee.

If you have just a personal account just email the funds back to the person that sent them to you. Since personal accounts have no fees they do not have a refund button.

Either process will take just a few seconds of your time.

To Stopwhining.... I just found info on the "accept"/"deny" button. Here is the cut and copied info...as you can see..it does not apply to me...In my case it was not "Pending"..it was COMPLETED!!

What are the "Accept" and "Deny" buttons on my Account Overview?

Payments which fall into one of the three categories below must be manually accepted or denied.

If the payment was sent to an unconfirmed email address: (FROM ME..MINE IS CONFIRMED)
To accept a payment, you must first confirm the email address to which it was sent. Once you have confirmed your email address, the payment will automatically clear and the funds will be reflected in your PayPal account balance.

If you have a Business or Premier Account:
Business and Premier Seller Protection (FROM ME..I DO NOT HAVE THIS) Policy only covers payments sent to a Confirmed Address, this preference lets you manually screen those payments which would leave you unprotected by the Seller Protection Policy, and weigh the risks yourself. The payment will be held as "Pending" until you decide to accept or deny it. If you accept the payment, the transaction will be completed. If you deny the payment, the transaction will be cancelled and the money returned to the sender's account.

If you have a Personal account:
Because credit card transactions are very expensive to process, the ability to receive credit card payments is reserved for Premier and Business accounts.
(FROM ME..THIS WAS NOT A CREDIT CARD PAYMENT)
Any credit card payment will be held as "Pending" until the recipient accepts it by upgrading to a Business or Premier account, or denies it (if payment is denied, the funds will be returned to the sender's PayPal account).

Personal accounts may still accept an unlimited number of payments which are funded from the sender's PayPal account balance or bank account.

To uaru....you know?....you're right..now that I know this..BUT...I am so angry for being dragged into this..I'm just going to wait untill I hear from her. It's been 4 days..and nothing...When she wants her item, maybe THEN she'll email me.

I understand your aggravation. I don't know what sort of buyer you are dealing with but it is a good idea to assume the best and work from there. The buyer could be so sweet that sugar won't melt in their mouth and simply made a poor judgment call.

I'd simply return the amount sent to me with a polite note saying I need a check or money order. There's a high probability the buyer will understand and comply with your request.

You'll catch more flys with honey than vinegar.

Uaru...you're right, and I HAVE been using honey..in all my emails to her. It's only HERE that I'm venting. If ONLY she would answer ONE of my emails. I've told her to just send payment MINUS the $8.75. She even ignored the fact that I require insurance. I know she's online because I'm AOL, and her name comes up as "online". The ball is in her court. I just want my money...or the item doesn't get sent..period.
I just can't believe that Paypal can automatically accept payments for me when I NEVER authorized them to do so. I might buy something ONCE a year..if that, so what good does it do me to have money sitting in a fund??!! So, I should pay $1.50 to have them send me a check?? I don't THINK so! Let paypal and my buyer hash it out. I'm done.

It would be in your best interest to work it out. The buyer can always do a reversal, then you'd have a negative balance with paypal.

yes,if she files a chargeback, you will eat a chargeback fee of 10 dollars if you cannot prove you have shipped to confirmed addr with delivery confirmation.
i dont think you can tell paypal not to accept payment for your paypal account,if the email address matches, the money will land in your account.
if you dont want anyone to send you money thru paypal, then use a different email add for paypal and one for ebay selling.
you dont have to pay 1.50 to get your paypal fund in form of money order,if you register your bank account with paypal, wiretranser is free and it takes 2-4 days.

Stopwhining....I DID use another ID. I don't buy and sell under the same ID. I DO not have an account with paypal as a seller!!! I just BUY with it..always have. I refused to give them any info other than my credit card number. It is THEY who have come up with the great idea of telling buyers they can pay ANYONE now. This whole thing stinks! Let them try to get $10 out of my credit card account if the buyer does a charge back!!! I think it would be called "theft" seeing how I NEVER agreed to use Paypal as a seller.

so how does your buyer know enough to send you money??
paypal does not differentiate buyer versus seller, paypal is a payment service,it is not owned by ebay,it could not care less whether you buy or sell or swap or trade .
if you feel paypal is not for you, then use billpoint or propay or bidpay ,each has some features not found in others.billpoint will auto sweep into your bank account the next business day, propay will let you do it yourself when it is available, bidpay allows your buyer to send you a money order with their credit card.

Stopwhining! Do you read??? Have you read anything I've written?? Don't you see that a buyer can pay ANYONE with paypal!!! I don't HAVE to be registered with paypal to have someone send me payment. I get the email.."congrats!!..you have money! All you have to do is pay $1.50 to get it!!! OR..you can keep it with US and use it to buy more items on ebay!!"
I DO use Bidpay!!! It is plain for anyone to see who bids on my auctions. This person had no idea I am registered with paypal under another ID!!! Paypal has made this a very convenient way to round up new users and get extra money! I feel like I'm spitting in the wind.....

Hmmm. I sent payment back to her about an hour ago. I just checked and it is unclaimed! What does that mean? I want to close my account, but can't because they say they are going to send me a check for the balance (HER unclaimed money)for..$1.50!! I don't WANT her money..I just want to close this account. UNBELIEVABLE!!!

Just guessing I'd say you probably issued her refund using your credit card for the refund or part of the refund amount. If the buyer has a personal account they won't be able to accept that payment unless they upgrade to a premier or business account.

IF you had returned her payment when you got it that wouldn't have happened. What you have now is a snowball effect going on that could have been avoided if you had returned her payment when you first received it.

First you have a molehill then you have a mountain...

i see, paypal does brag about anyone with email addr can receive payment.
this is how they round up more users, most people are ECSTATIC when they hear someone sends them money, but i guess you do not.
if you feel paypal cannot serve you well, just delete the email addr from your internet service provider, that will put an ened to all these paypal emails saying you have cash!!
if you feel your buyer is at fault, then dont attract any buyer, either by stop selling or list with a starting bid of 1 billion dollar and see what happens.buyers who cannot keep sellers happy have no business bidding on your items.
they should be banished to siberia or worse afghanistan.
they should have their eyes poked out, fingernails pulled, jabbed to death with a small icepick.

I just received a short note from this woman (finally!) saying that a check will be sent within three days ( I won't hold my breath.)
Stopwhining. You're right. I have deleted my selling ID from paypal. I am no longer going to SELL on Ebay after doing so for 5 years. Now I'm just going to BUY with all the money I've made. OR...I may get a job with paypal. I'm sure I'd qualify now that I know how they run things. Thank you for making me see the light! I feel like a new person...Fre-e-e-e-e-e-e-ee!

Oh yeah...Stopwhining....why should I be ecstatic if paypal has money for me that I cannot possibly use if I don't buy anything on Ebay..that THEY are collecting interest on..or that I would have to pay $1.50 to retrieve???? Are you blonde.......??

no one can read your mind and know if you just plan to buy and not sell,or sell and not buy with paypal or c2it or billpoint or ccnow??
or how much would you have in your paypal account to make it worthwhile to pay 1.50 for a money order mailed to you.
or why you dont want to register your bank account so you can transfer fund free??
i am not blonde, but i spent a few years in siberia studying their tigers.

Hmmm....well..if my TOS in the auction description wasn't enough of a clue, (Money order..personal check...Bidpay), then the EOA I sent her, (money order...personal check..Bidpay), MAY have given a hint. If still clueless..she could have ASKED!!!! Scheeesch!

thats your buyer,not paypal.
if your buyer decides to run to mcdonald and bring you big mac and french fries in lieu of cash payment, are you going to blame mcdonald for her behavior??
most ebay bidders are pretty good in complying with seller tos,but once in a while there are some ???
i accept paypal, billpoint, check, money order, cash, propay, bidpay ,as long as it does not result in a chargeback,i let them do what they want.
i just ate a chargeback from middle east for 210.95 plus chargback fee,so count your blessing!!!!!!!!!

You're right..it IS the buyer. I'm beginning to think she's not the brightest bulb on the tree. Even she wrote me that she would be sending payment..she still hasn't claimed the money I sent her.
As to the Big Mac....THAT I would take...
