Hi,
Sadly, this is an issue only the account holder can handle.

Hi simon,
The email alias has been confirmed to an account, which means it is registered to the account. You will need to pursue action against the account holder if they are doing as you state.

"MY e mail address is still registered to my Ex girlfriends"
Set up a new email addy to your account. If you have to also set up a new account.
As you do not state any details here, It's hard to advice you.

So what happens if someone finds your password somehow and it either happens to be the same password for your e-mail account or they also got your e-mail password (if you were on a network and it wasn't secure, etc.) I'm not saying it's probable but what if it happens? They confirm your e-mail address on their account and there is nothing you can do about it ever, even if this person is collecting payments intended for you?

Hi simonwim,
The email address was confirmed to the account. You are claiming that it should not be, which means it will require you taking actions against the party.
How do I know that you are the holder of the email address?
I hope you understand where the concerns are.

Damon,
weather or not he is or isn't the party involved shouldn't the question be enough to initiate an investigation?
If the claim is legitimate than all the necessary precautions you want him to go thru are delaying correction of the problem.
In that same time things can already be "going south" because of it.

What kind of "investigation" can PayPal do? Do they send an email to the person and ask "Is this email address really yours or is it your ex-boyfriend's?" or "Is this email address really yours?"
You can't figure out who the email address belongs to (unless you go and ask the ISP - which may not reply or take really long to).

Another suggestion: why doesn't the holder of the e-mail address (the poster of this message) e-mail Damon from that e-mail address? That can prove to Damon that he is the holder of the e-mail address. Or Damon can send something to that e-mail address and then ask the user who owned that e-mail address what he sent; the only way for the owner to know is if he actually had access to that e-mail account.

infact if you e mail her she will probably confirm everything, the only reason i cant e mail her is cause she has a written letter to stop me having any contact with her! or i would write to her.Mmmmm just a thought, i wonder if theres anyone else on here that could e mail her for me im guessing you cant though Paypaldamon, as you refuse to help

Why don't you simply contact your ISP. Tell them that someone has access to your email address. Tell them you need to change the password. With out your password they won't be able to get the email. All emails would be directed to you. Then try contacting paypal. Say look what I have! Since they do not wish to resolve this matter if indeed you are the rightful owner.
Damon,
I can understand your point about this already being verified. However, there should be some procedure which one can prove their identity and to verify that they are indeed they are the assigned user of the email account.

Please at least look into this for me Paypal Damon, I SET THE DAMN ACCOUNT UP, she changed the password to the account, and infact if you asked me the security questions i could probably even answer them for you!!!!(if i can remeber what i put, lol)
PLEASE, thats all i can say Damon

are you the primary account holder? If you are, you can click the "forgot your password" link on PayPal and they will help you set up a new password.

My e mail address is the primary(and only) registered e mail on that account, but her name is on the account.
I have clicked on the forgot password link and get an e mail from paypal, then when i click on it, it tells me the account has been locked and to call them, to answer the security questions. So when i do call them, they ask to speak to the account holder, who i cannot pretend i am cause im male!:>
Who does the account actually belong to, the person who has the e mail registered there or the persons name thats on the register???

Another case where PayPal has failed to act.
The account belongs to the person with the name registered on the account. However, since it doesn't belong to you, you are not liable for any chargebacks. Just stop using the account. If anyone pays into your account and they can't get their money back advise them to file a chargeback with their credit card company (assuming it was a credit card transaction). Since you are not liable, PayPal will probably eventually want all these chargebacks to your account to stop happening and will remove your e-mail address from the account.

Does the person not have to have a valid reason to request a chargeback to thier credit card??
how would this work, ill pay the account 20 transaxctions of $1 each and then complain to paypal every time that i havent recieved goods from the person who's account ive sent money to, i will then get 20 e mails from paypal asking for me to reply to them within 7 days as to what has happened about thiese transactions, i will not respond(because i cant) to there requests, will they close the account?? Ok it may cost me $20 but it sure would be worth it, and i have a spare $20 in my proper paypal account

No, I wouldn't (oops, forgot to type the n't in the first post) make charges for no reason. Just advise your buyers to file a chargeback if they accidentally pay into your PayPal account and can't get the money back from PayPal.<br />

To prevent future problems get a new email address either through your ISP or get a free web-based email.
Change your ebay email to your new email and then cancel the email account that is currently registered to the paypal account held by your ex.
Since the account was in her name, you can then open your own account with the new email.
