This morning I got an email from Paypal saying some money in my account was \"unclaimed\". News to me, but I went to the link and tried for a while - managed to claim the dollars which came from an unconfirmed address but had been paid in last summer.

Tried and tried and tried to find out why this was not automatic and was sent to preferences. This had nothing about auctomatic claiming and it looked to be as wide open and receptive as possible.

So I sent email to Paypal customer service and got back something even less comprehensible than that.

First, if these funds are occasionally not automatically swept into my account and it\'s impossible to do so, please don\'t send me to Preferences where the choices are limited.

Second, if it is some one of those 8 or so radio buttons, tell WHICH ONE!

Third, just out of curiousity - what would happen to these funds that were debited from my buyer's cc but not put into my account?

===========My Email To Paypal=============
Hi,
I got the following letter about unclaimed funds but am unable to follow your instructions.

I understand that I need to change my profile (Payment Receiving Preferences - I don\'t see those words in Preferences).

Did you also notice that being a "pal" as they want you to believe that after making interest on your money they charged you the new rate not the rate at the time the transaction was made.

Yeah, I'm sure the interest is lost. I was pretty happy just getting my money out of them.

I was also REALLY surprised that the transaction had disappeared from my Account screen. It was 5 months ago and I sure never file stuff until it's credited to my account. Then, DAMN! I'm about to lose bucks and my guess is that it goes into their till! Wait a minute! The buyer got the goods, his credit card was debited and Paypal gets the bucks?

Another thing - I tried to file a question with their customer service and there is supposedly a 700 character limit on the info you send them. There crummy email to me was more than that! I tried to edit it down and down and down until I could send them the essence of what they sent me. Wound up about 16 lines long and nowhere NEAR 700 characters so the sense of what I asked em was pretty near lost. This after pawing around 15 minutes trying to "claim" my own money!

Paypal does not make it easy on you (their revenue souce and supposed customer).

Hi,

Unclaimed payments are reverted back to the sender's account.

And what would I have to set in Preferences so I didn't have to worry about whether or not my funds would make it into my account?
