Can cell phones legally be shipped via media-rate?

Postmaster Ralphie says: "No!"

Media Mail is used for books, film, manuscripts, printed music, printed test materials, sound recordings, play scripts, printed educational charts, loose-leaf pages and binders consisting of medical information, videotapes, and computer-recorded media like CDs and diskettes. Media Mail cannot contain advertising.

The maximum size is 108 inches in combined length and distance around the thickest part.

Mark each package "Media Mail" in the postage area.

Thanks, Tom...That's what I suspected but hoped that maybe phones could be considered "media"...

Guess this question had me curious. Why in the world would anyone want to ship a cell phone media mail to start with?

My cell phone by itself weighs 4 oz. Even with box, charger etc. I can't imagine it would weigh more than a pound, and more likely could go at first class for less than $4.

Or $4.60 priority mail.

I'll be selling several old ones as a lot and they come in at over 1 1/2 pounds! Looking at these old "brick" cell phones that were once the height of technology makes me realize how far we've come!
