Hello all

Previous threads on this subject have degenerated into squabbling so I am starting a new one, even though the problem has already been aired, hoping there are some answers out there.

The capacity to upload folders of images direct to Vendio from your PC vanishes with Windows Vista. "Publish to Internet" has been removed because Microsoft considered that "nobody was using it." There is a "Print to Web" option in Vista's Windows Photo Gallery, but this does not appear in the Home Basic edition. You need to spend more to upgrade. Even if you do this, the Vendio software to interface with it, written for XP, doesn't work.

Manually uploading over 100 images a day is time-consuming and prone to human error.

What we urgently need is a solution to this, or Vendio customers (at least me) will start to look elsewhere for their image hosting.

We need one or more of these options:

(a) a Vendio interface that works with the Vista "Print To Web" function.

(b) the ability to use FTP to upload images to our Vendio folders.

(c) a workaround that does not involve using two computers to do one very simple task.

If there are any Vendio technical staff who are reading this, or anyone with an idea of how to help, please come forward.

Many thanks

Marius

Marius - Still using XP here but I understand your problem. You might get more attention from Vendio if you post (or add to posts) in the Vendio Services forum below this one. I don't think this board is moderated by Vendio.

You might be able to use SMPro to upload your images.

In SM Pro Preferences, there is an Image Synchronization option. I check mine because I do not want images uploaded except when I am uploading the auction that pertains to them.

I guess if you left it unchecked, all images might be uploaded? Might be worth a try.

Marius--your post elsewhere was what got me going on this for myself. Last we heard, the moderator said they were noting that for management. And didn't someone from Vista tell you in the other thread that they'd marked it down as a bug? I have hopes that something will happen soon.

I must say that if I were in Vendio management, I'd be very worried about this bug. It could greatly affect Vendio's bottom line. More computers now come loaded with WindowsVista, and many buyers won't want to be removing it and reloading the XP.

I agree we have to keep on this. Meanwhile, I use two computers now for publishing to web.

if you're FTP'ing or considering going that route, it's _far_ less expensive to just buy a domain and store unlimited numbers of images there. would cost you between $6 and $16...a year. depends on who you buy from and what features you opt for.

Thank you so much everybody for lots of useful suggestions. I appreciate it very much.

Sadly, most of these solutions mean dispensing with Vendio and going back to what we all did before Vendio came along -- FTP-ing our images to our own websites or elsewhere.

The point about Vendio was convenience -- being able to upload hundreds of images at one time, select them and paste the HTML into the listing. It made listing on eBay much faster.

It is now getting difficult to buy a new PC which doesn't have Vista installed. It is here to stay.

Whenever Microsoft introduces a new version of Windows, there is a wobbly period during which lots of new businesses take over from older ones who have failed to adapt to the new O/S.

Losing the easy-upload capacity may seem a small thing now, but as soon as someone else comes along with upload software which can work with Vista, Vendio will no longer attract new customers.

Adapting fast is the name of the game on the net.

Once again, many thanks to everybody.

Marius
