Sultry is good for phone sex. Not so good for auctions. I landed on this page twice and my husband said, "If you play that voice once more, I'm going to vomit."
Have to wonder where this seller's head is. I briefly contemplated that perhaps she actually IS trying to sell phone sex. One teensy-weensy picture of the item in question, totally overwhelmed by her tacky Eva Longoria impression and the stupid horizontal scrolling gallery. That's why I went back again. I didn't even SEE the auction item the first time.
Horrible technique.
Use bigger pictures, drop the bedroom voice, get rid of the borders, use a shipping calculator so your customers can pay you 10 seconds after the auction ends rather than 24 hours and gee Grandma, what big profits you'll have.

A turn-off. I kept picturing a 450 lb grandma in a trailer trying to hock her wares,

well from a man's point of view I did not find it sultry. Just a laid back lackadaisical maybe soft spoken is how she talks normally is what I thought I heard. But it is annoying. I like to read without the commentary...

Oh good heavens, she sounded like a couple of drag queens I know. That's even worse than hearing music when you open an auction and I didn't think you could get much worse.

Well folks, I am the odd one out here. I thought her auctions were great. I liked having the description read to me, and I had no problem with her voice at all. She is obviously an older lady (like me), and I loved her ME page, very informative. I have absolutely no interest in vintage Christmas decorations, but I found I wanted to read about the different types through the years, and to check out several of her auctions.
I feel like she put a lot of work into her auctions, and my comment to her would be "You go girl!" Against hers, believe me, my auctions look VERY BORING!
I may be the only one, but I found no trying to send a subliminal message in any way.

HMM - she didn't sound like she was trying to be sultry to me either - just trying to put some expression in reading her description. Give the lady a break for heaven's sake - I didn't find this nearly as offensive as the auctions with music or pop-ups or irritating GIFs. That being said, I still prefer plain vanilla (maybe with a little chocolate or strawberry on top) listings.

I think it's a Grandma pretending to be a guy in drag. She tries to open sultry; thankfully, it wears off as she drones on. Even worse in some of her other auctions.

Maybe sounds through a computer are like colors on a monitor? (vary from user to user?)

At least she isn't hawking products for that certain part of the male body. LOL Neglus, I think you are right but don't think it the sound cards but the ear of the beholder. One thing about recorded description would be for the person who does not see real well, or who can not read well and or comprehend what they read. Believe it or not there are a lot of people very smart that comprehend what they hear but NOT what they read or try to read. I think maybe this is what the purpose of the auction with voice might be trying to accomplish. Just need to hire that announcer guy on the Geico commercials to do the commentary .. You know the one where the lady is talking aobut the accident her husband had and the announcer guy behind her translating. ha ha ha. (Grin)

Ewwwww...I actually spent a few minutes researching how to do that a while back. Now that I've heard it in real life...I don't think so!

I had to laugh: Rosie sounds like me greeted at the burger drive-in. "Will that be all sir?" is what I invariably get. Echoed by anyone who talks to me on the phone -- sound like a male, but assuredly a female and not in any kind of drag either.
Rosie needs some coaching on delivery, and I wouldn't find it too bad if she got rid of the "Hi I'm Rose, and I think you should bid." Something sounds computer generated about her voice. And that bell sound can go too.
What was I saying? I liked it? Or I didn't?
