Just as Ernesto exits the stage, here comes Tropical Storm Florence who was waiting in the wings. It's still quite aways off, so no need to worry about it for at least a week, and it still faces some hostile conditions before it can develop into a hurricane. Still, those on the east coast may want to peek at this every so often and not let it sneak up on you.

Ever since Hurricane Isabel totally destroyed our home Sept 18, 2003 I have been terrified. I am lucky to be alive & will never again stay home to ride out a storm. I even checked out of here to run from Ernesto, my husband stayed home...I think he's crazy. Nothing happened, but I take no chances with the hundred or so LARGE trees surronding our house.
Anyway Sparkz, thanks for the early alerts I depend on them on what to watch. When is hurricane season over?
Any chance you can keep Florence away from Eastern PA.

McJane...I don't blame you. I wouldn't want to be in the same state as a hurricane either. Don't be concerned with the path as shown on the map. It's very early in the game and it will change several times. When I mentioned the hostile conditions above, which could rip this storm apart and kill it at sea, I was also referring to the steering winds which cannot be accurately predicted this far out. This system could just as easily head to Nova Scotia or New Orleans by next week. I have been following it since it was TD-6, and a couple days ago, it was aimed at Miami. The only way to guarantee it won't hit Pa. is to have Tom bring Ralphie up there and put the BT Voodoo curse on it. There hasn't been a Hurricane or Tropical storm hit Jax since Ralphie came to town

LOL, Tom.
McJane: I don't know when the season is over (November or December?), but I heard a weathercaster say this afternoon that September 12th is the peak of the hurricane season--whatever that means for you!

sparkz: I'll be watching your forcasts. Did I ever tall you that my son is & was a weather forcaster. He used to forcast the weather at Pease AFB for jet pilots that flew the coast. It was operated by a private concern.
Ralphie would bring good luck anywhere & is WELCOME ANYTIME, would love to have him & he would like me too. Hey, Tom, can I have Ralphie...I have a fenced in yard, lots of woods & trees, lots of cats & a dog. He would love it here & I would make sure he writes to you everyday.

I was thinking of the mid west, but then I have to worry about tornados & then the west coast, but then earthquakes.
Maybe Florida is the place to go.
I'm fine, but had to cut my vacation short.
Went to the Pocono Mts, Central House Resort.
Left on Saturday for a week & came home on Wednesday because it was cold & raining & wouldn't stop. So miserable.
I'm also down about Steve Irwin, way down, can't stop thinking about him.
He really was my hero with his love for animals. Why him, why did this have to happen, it is so hard to accept.

Actually, Jane, Ralphie & I were gonna ask you to be his GodMother, as I'm worried about his future if sumptin should happen to me...???
My kid and his family are GREAT, but not really all that super with DAWGS, and I worry that they wouldn't take the time or make the effort to find him a good home, but rather just dump him in the shelter ()
He's VEEERY well-behaved & polite; dresses himself and picks up his toys after playing...NTM: the quickest potty-trained kid in history (ONE DAY~YIKES!)

I wouldn't worry to much Tom. I think you would find many of us here in Vendio would be more than happy to give Ralphie a few shingles over his head and a fresh bone, me included.

Please ....this is much too sobering.
I have often wonder what would happen to my little Kobe (little black poodle ) if his mommy and daddy were not here .
Kobe is very high maintenance! He eats only what he wants, sleeps in the middle etc.
He is very good about his house manners, he always goes outside BUT he must be escorted(seriously!). He is a scardy mutt -- he will not go out by himself, even at 3 am , one of us must step out with him (usually moi)--- hence a fenced in back yard with good lighting is a must.
Our son would take him in, since he is the only child. Kobe's life though would be radically changed but he would still be taken care of.
Methinks, Kobe would probably win, cuz JR is not as tuff as he thinks he is.
After awhile he would be ruling his abode just like he does here .

when we got Stetson (he's a Yorkie Rescue) he was turned over to us because he came from a home that had about 10 Yorkies. He was the first Yorkie they had and they had used him to breed other Yorkies. Well - after a time the couple divorced and Stetson (best I can figure out anyway) was highly upset when his Male aka "daddy" figure disappeared from the household. They said he started biting and nipping everyone. I say he was one upset Pup! Since my Yorkie Romper is overally attached to me and not to my DH - I had always hoped for another Yorkie that would become for my DH - "his". Once we got Stetson he immediately attached himself to my DH and still doesn't have much to do with me.
So tom - you might want to consider another male figure for Ralphie. Just IMHO.
BTW since we've had Stetson he's never exhibited ANY signs of aggression - except to the Possum he caught.

Tom, Would I be Ralphies godmother, I don't have to think it over, you bet I would & I am honored to be asked & ready at a moments notice to care for him.
I can assure you that next to his home with you, you might have a hard time finding a better home for him than with me. Even if you ever need temporary care I will be here for that too.
So yes, yes, yes I will be Ralphies, godmother & guardian if you want me to be.
Now, don't scare me, your going to be fine, you have to be because as much as I want Ralphie & I really do, he wants you.
You have a choice of Vendioites & see we all love & want him. But I hope you pick me.

I know I'm wierd about my DAWG, but I can't help it, so I no longer even try: he's me roomie & bestest buddy & I try to give him (to the best of my physical ability) a "happy" doggy-life
By law, Ralphie is a piece of property, like a VCR (YIKES!), so I have to leave instructions in my will for him to go to his "Auntie Jane's" -- he has a TRAVELING CRATE & has flown cargo before (as a baby), so I just have to WRITE IT ALL OUT with specifics so nobody gets confused...ALWAYS best to plan ahead...
THAT WAY he's guaranteed to go to a good home with loving "parents" and I donna have to worry about him...

Yes, Ralphie sure is lucky to have Tom & Tom is very lucky to have Ralphie. It's so easy to see that Tom's world revolves around him.
Tom I will email you the information you need & as much as I want Ralphie I hope you never have to use it.
