My monitors are getting old. My NEWEST monitor is a 17" CTX monitor from 1997. I can stare at the screen on my laptop all day long, but my regular old montitor is starting to give me headaches.

It's time for a flat screen LCD. I'd like to stay under $200, but would go as high as $300 if there is a good reason to do so.

Anyone have any good recommendations? I don't play games much anymore, but I do watch a lot of videos on the computer.

Just to make this eBay related, I use a computer to do eBay... Believe it or not!

When buying any monitor, if possible, try and get a look at it side-by-side with a representative cross section of others on sale. This way you stand a better chance of avoiding buying a lemon. If you don't mind the gas money or have time on the way home from the Post Office, stop in at Circuit City or Best Buy and check out what they have and how they look... then drive home and buy it cheaper online.

buy.com has great prices on monitors...and while it makes me a little ill to say it, we just bought some Dell Ultrasharp LCD's for the school office which uses PeeSee's and they are gorgeous. They even got a MacWorld Magazine Best Buy award. I don't know who makes their panels but they picked the right producer for sure.

Jack, you and your swap meets. I swear. Too bad I don't live closer. I don't think the san jose flea market has anything that good. Anyone in Nor Cal have any recent experience at that flea market? I haven't been there in years. Last time it was mostly like buying something at the dollar store or in china town
