Sorry if this has been posted..I just read this on eBay. Due to many concerns from sellers, ebay decided to have their billing dept post the credits at the end of Aug rather than the original end of September date that was originally announced.

"Due to many concerns from sellers"
In other words, there were a lot of sellers that didn't trust Ebay to live up to their end of the deal.

Could that be why that promotion ended up being a flop?

Please excuse this probably stupid question: How do we know it was a flop? Just because a bunch of us here didn't participate doesn't mean it was a flop.

Well let's see. A two day promotion instead of a 1 day promotion and it had the least amount of listing's for any promotion in a long time. I think that qualify's as a flop.

Yeah, flop as in about 4 million less listing's when compared to the promotion in May and people even had 2 day's for this one. Interesting to note that every time they have a promotion in recent month's they have less and less people listing during the promotion. It's a steady decline.

When you think about it, only sellers who had stores could participate. I don't know what percentage of total buyers have stores.

That's true, I didn't consider that. However, if you consider the quantity of low dollar items that are in stores and with the fee increase the amount of these items that are being removed due to not being to make a profit any longer you would have thought that the number of listing's would have gone up alot more. Then again there could be alot of people like me that said screw ebay and will find other venues to sell their items on.
I just checked and there are 8,564 pages of stores at 25 stores per page. That makes 214,000 stores on ebay. That's one heaping helping of stores with a huge amount of inventory.

Well when all is said and done I sure would like to know how many store owners closed up dur to this rate increase. I closed mine and am having a yard sale this weekend. I want all that stuff gone. When I look at it clearly and fairly it was for the most part.. 50% low end "stuff". Paying to keep it somewhere was not cost effective. I'm not happy to not have a store but I am happy that I forced me to look at my business without rose colored glasses.

I participated in the promo and it has been the worst one ever for me. My international sales are really down. Might be that buyers over there are joining the boycott.
