Just read the Auctionbytes email, found this little diddy.
"eBay Canada Changes Search to Favor Canadian Sellers By Ina Steiner AuctionBytes.com June 23, 2006
eBay Canada is changing the way listings are displayed on search results pages. It will begin including Canadian listings exclusively at the top of all search results for searches conducted off the homepage."
Maybe that explains why there might be less sales going on for US sellers. I am sure that many of us do very well with Canadian buyers.

I wish we could do that here in the US. I am sick and tired of seeing hundreds of items that are listing in GBP instead of US Dollars.
I have been known to order hard to find items from overseas, but most of the time, I just want to buy something that will arrive quickly and cheaply. 99% of the time, I am just not interested in browsing foreign sellers.

DrArcane:
Well, you can eliminate those foreigners. Do advanced search and pick US only. The default is eBay in general.

You can. when searching for an item, do an advanced search and choose items located in the United states, currency: US dollars

Less sales could be that the kids just got out of school for the summer. Parents are taking a deep breath and getting in gear for summer. This is the time when people go on vacations. Alot of all my neighbors are gone and on vacation for 2 weeks. I bet things start picking up again in a week or so. Maybe even if it is only slightly.

Or it could be everybody getting raped on gas and cutting back in other areas.

Our gas prices are less now than a few months ago, so I don't think that's it.
It's summer, the kids are finishing school. Isn't it like this every year?

Parklane...You should have hopped in the car and drove over to Mendota yesterday. There was a convenience store on one corner, and a gas station on the other. The owners of each were extremely stubborn and wanted to cut each others throats on the price of gas. One dropped the price a nickel. The other dropped it a few pennies lower than that. The next thing you know, they had an old fashioned gas war going. Before they declared a truce, they were selling gas at $1.89 a gallon. Each had over a hundred cars in line and the sheriff's department had to go there to direct traffic and keep order. There was quite a write up about it in this morning's Fresno Bee.

I got my gas 10 cents cheaper a gallon last week and it cost me $4.00 to get the water out of it so my car would run again. I now buy my gas at another station.
