I ask this question because for the last few yrs it seems to me that this event allows the ebay site to go to hell.
I have not done any research on this but each yr the week before during and after the entire e-bay motif seems to goes to crap in my view.
The e-bay staff seems totally focused on this event, Vendio and other support organizations are in the same mode for it.
Yes the call center folks are in place, but those that actually do things are just focused on this event and the entire site becomes a mess.
Each yr the sales at this time are just tanked. as we now know the search engines are not working and other parts are screwy and after this event they are just all rah rah upped and all pooped out to get back to the tasks of appling the bandaids to the system.
just my opinion,
so what do you think?

I would agree except for the fact that Ebay is also screwed up when it's not Ebay live time.

Well, if sales go to hell -- no you said tank -- during eBay Live week, that just confirms that we never sell to real people, just other eBay-ers (you know what I mean by real, no offense!). It's the old tale of the washerwomen ...

I WOULD HAVE DISAGREED WITH YOU THREE WEEKS AGO AS I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE SOME SALES THERE. BUT IT PROVES TO ME THAT THEY (E-BAY) CARE LESS IF IT WORKS, SO IS IT SELLING TO E-BAYERS OR THE THING WEAS NOT WORKING SO LETS JUST DO SOMETHING ELSE.
TO STONE, WHEN I WROTE THIS I WAS ALREADY DISCOUNTING THE NORMAL MESS.
THEY DON'T WORK WEEK END OR HOLIDAYS AND LIKE VENDIO THEY FIX IT WHEN THEY ARE DONE PLAYING WITH SOME NEW PROJECT.
THEY ARE GOING TO WIND UP JUST LIKE YAHOO AUCTIONS

Ebay live is timed to take place during the slowest time of the year to allow the most people to attend. This method for timing national conventions is employeed by every corporaton in America. Due to the start of summer vacation and nice weather, most people do not choose to sit in front of a computer buying things during June. If your sales tank during Ebay live, it has nothing to do with where the staff is, Las Vegas or San Jose. It has everything to do with where the bidders are. Search will not be working any better this Christmas as it is today as long as Ebay keeps trying to combine stores and auctions into the same engine. Only when they realize that stores and auctions are two entirely different concepts, and need to be operated independently of each other will customers be able to find your items as easily as they did a couple of months ago. If any seller at Ebay live was able to convince one of the corporate eggheads of this, thin I would rate Ebay Live as a rip roaring success.

Guess I don't sell enough stuff to see difference except my last 2 weeks of sales were pretty good. Of course I had some good items I guess. Luck of the draw.
