I only know this because I (uh) broke my American Standard toilet last night tightening down the bowl to tank screws too tight. Long story, never mind - it involves hanging new wallpaper.
Anyway I ran across the above page when I was trying to find out my model name. And they WILL pay me $50.00 for my old toilet tank lid! I have to pay the shipping to them so that might not be such a good deal.

Dear Ms Blonde,
Thank you for writing.
Yes, I would like to purchase your (in perfect shape) toilet tank lid if
white in color.
I am willing to pay you $50 for it.
If you would like to sell it to us, please ship it to:
attn: Vic - tanklid
PlumbingSupply Group
994 E. 20th St
Chico, CA 95928
When we receive it we will inspect it to be sure it is as you indicated.
If it has no chips and cracks and is the model and color that you stated,
we will then send you a check for the stated amount within 5 working days.
Please be sure to:
1) include a copy of this note OR, if you don't have a printer, then write
a note that says that I wrote you...... and the details of this note and
the date of my (this) note.
2) Please include the name of whom you would like us to make the check out
to as well as your mailing address (yes, people do forget to do that
sometimes )
3) Please pack it well as UPS and the post office have broken lids in the
past if it doesn't have at least 2" of packing all around the lid for a
good safety margin.
Please note that my offer is only good for 7 days.
Again, thank you very much for writing and offering to sell your toilet
tank lid to us.

It'll cost a LOT to ship those things. This sounds like a college-student project to see how gullible people are. What possible use could there be for just a tank lid???

here's their answer after I asked if they would pay the shipping:
"If I had a guaranteed sale I would gladly pay $100. for it (including
shipping) but I'm taking a gamble.
I could be wrong but I'm guessing that it will cost you around $15. for
shipping (maybe as much as $20 but I don't think so as it should weigh
around 10 pounds plus the box.
Consider that you would be getting $35. for an old used tank lid and I
think it's not too bad.
Up until a few years ago we used to sell them for that price.
Now I have more competition and so have decided that rather than be low
priced for used unique tank lids I will be known for having the largest
selection.
Me paying $50. when I am asking a lot more might seem to you (and I
understand) like I'm making "a lot" but it's all about gambling really.
I'm gambling $50. and hope that I CAN sell it some day.
So sorry, but that's all that I will/can pay.
If you try to sell it on eBay (or wherever) I'm guessing that no matter
what you ask for it, it could be many years before someone needs it.
And that's where I'm at.......I hope you understand.

The GOOD news was I was able to pick up a like new complete toilet at the Habitat for Humanity Thrift store for $30.00.
The above website pays up to $150.00 for a lid believe it or not.....

Sounds fishy to me. You have to ship it first and then if they like it and it is perfect they will pay for it. We eBayers never ever ship anything without payment, right? If it is on the up and up it sounds like a good deal. I know that the first thing that breaks on a toilet is the lid, having had many lidless wonders in my lifetime.

There is actually some on ebay right now and in completed some sold ones. would not have thought to sell that at all. be hard to ship be my luck it would break big time, since they are so gentle with packages padded or not.

I don't think it's a phish. There is a local (how shall I put this) junk store close to me. They buy and sell toilet's, old bath tubs, sinks, fixtures, old doors, door knobs, molding and trim etc... They pay good money for them to and resell them at rather high prices. You might be supprised but there appears to be a market for old bathroom and kitchen fixtures. I drive by this guy's shop 2 or 3 times a week and I don't think I have ever went by and there wasn't at least 1 or 2 building contractors there buying something for a building renovation. Don't forget one mans junk is another mans treasure.
