Granny Look or Granny Chic

The "Today" show this morning (May 30) just featured "Granny Look" or "Granny Chic" about the mix of old style with modern as the latest thing - crochet and knitting mixed with modern looks, vintage style chair with vinyl upholstery. The hip designer I never heard of thinks Granny's attic is the place to look for inspiration. Some of the granny looks were from my youth which made me think "That is a granny look?" Well yes I would be someone's granny if I had any children.

They are pushing new stuff including old designs but is it too much of a stretch to list the real old stuff to mix in with the new.

Oh well we already know "antique", "vintage", and "old" is in the eye of the beholder, or seller/buyer. Maybe "Granny Chic" can be the search word of choice on eBay for at least the next 15 minutes.

Interesting! I'll be watching for it. Some of the stuff I have to sell may be in that "category."

Did a search at ebay and Yep they already have a few things described as that. Will have to remember that one. LOL

I have tons of "granny chic" patterns from the 60's. They are clothes made using "granny squares" so I guess I have a new term to call them besides "hippy" or "BOHO". LOL ...

I wonder if someone is going to register that phrase so no one else can use it. Remember the flack over 'shabby chic'? The one lady claimed it was all hers, haven't heard anything lately. Just checked and there are 7700 plus listings that have both 'shabby' and 'chic' in the title, most of them have other words in between them so it must still be a problem to use that phrase.

Sparkz, you are on to my scam! Actually I was just amused by the tone of the piece discussing the new "design trend" with such seriousness.

I sent my sister an email to alert her to the fact that she has a couple of storage units full of "Granny Chic" and didn't even know it.
