I am almost done helping clean out the house. Lots of great ebay stuff. Some really unusual stuff too. One box filled with very old cotton bags that rice came in. Do you think they are worth listing? I searched the closed auctions under cotton rice bags and found nothing. Maybe the muscle between my ears is as tired and the rest of me. Am I missing something?

Maybe I sould just put them in the pile for the garage sale.

What do you think?

Are these bags plain whith, or are they in a print pattern?

The reason I asked, is that years ago some of the fine grains sold in feed stores came in cotton bags that were various colored print designs. These bags were highly sought after and made into shirts and blouses. I doubt many survived. It would be great if that was what you had.

Ditto to what Sparkz said. I've sold some of those, and flour sacks, in the Collectibles/vintage sewing category two years ago. I'd probably consider selling them as a lot, unless you can determine if any of the towns represented have collectors, like for a museum. (Even our little Idyllwild has a nice, small museum and lots of Idyllwild collectors vying for postcards on Ebay!)

different colors, like green cotton with yellow printing on it? I have ONE! It is green and says in this order:
Let the good Earth Produce
then a picture of a hand holding a seedling
underneath that says
FERRY MORSE SEEDS
FERRY-MORSE SEED CO.
DETROIT MICH.-MOUNTAIN VIEW CALIF.

Yup it's old. We don't use CALIF anymore. We use CA. Not only that, there is absolutely no farming or industry in that part of the bay area. It's all houses now!

Check closed listings under "rice sack." Do yours have any interesting graphics (ie objects), or are most just printed with name, etc.? The more colorful the better. The Ferry Morse one may be worth listing on its own.

What you have are not at all flour or feed sacks which had multi colored patterns, florals usually, and were used for clothing, quilts, curtains, pillow cases, etc. Your plain ones were sometimes used for the backs of quilts, and on occasion you can still make out the lettering. Mostly 1930s-40s make-dos.
