I haven't started my eBay store yet. Sounds like this is a popular topic lately. I have a couple of questions on the fees, etc.

I read through as much info as I could find. My understanding is:

Ebay charges $.02 per store auction listing. Are we charged the 8% + fee ONLY IF the item sells? Are we not charged the 8% fee if the item DOESN'T sell?

I'm assuming eBay charges extra for second, third, fourth pics? Correct?

I will probably have more questions once I start listing.

Where is a good place on Vendio to go regarding eBay stores and how to set up the auction listing.

I think I will be a little confused with how to distinguish between what goes to regular auction and Ebay stores.

You're not alone - feel free to post any questions on my post below.
You have some of the same questions that I do.

listing fee is .02 + .01 for the gallery. It does not matter what the cost of the item is or how many of said item you have available, listing price is the same. FVF is 8% on items that sell. If they don't sell, no fee.

I have no idea on the extra pic charges - I odn't use ebay for my images.

Just to clarify ~~ I use Vendio for all my pics. I didn't know how Ebay would see these pics. I guess it's the same as a normal ebay auction as far as pic fees. Thanks

eBay doesn't charge for the extra pics if they are hosted and listed with Vendio.

Don't forget about that pesky monthly store fee.

I agree Stonecold, I think people often forget the monthly fee, you have to divide that by the number of items in your store, plus it's 10 cents for each auction listed through Vendio, so it is a lot more than just the 3 cents charged by eBay for each listing. Also, if like me you use Vendio gallery, and go over your quota, that also has to be added to find the true listing cost. At least now people can FIND the auctions!

If you are listing in quantity and are charged $.10 per listing in Vendio, you are on the wrong plan! Also, the monthly store fee of $14.95 is minimal when compared to the 8% FVF which is the real monster.

If you are going to have a store and are concerned about cost, there are plenty of things you can do to lower the cost. Get a domain name with hosting service. I pay $3.95/mo through GoDaddy (5 GIG) or you can get 50 GIG for $6.95. I am in the process of moving all my pics there. Use Turbo Lister to list your items. There is a new one out and it's great. Best of all - it's free. If you own a store, you get Sales Manager FREE. There are also FREE galleries out there. Sure, they aren't automated like Vendio's, but they are easy to use and if you are concerned about cost the price is right. If you consider all of the above, the 8% fvf isn't so hard to take.

A store works best if you have (IMO) over 100 items that you are selling. It's more cost effective then putting them at auction. Plus, if something doesn't sell at auction, you can park it in your store. Three cents per month (with gallery) is quite affordable even considering the monthly store fee. Then there's the great vacation feature.

Once you've established yourself and are making the sales you need to turn a profit, then think about adding the extras like Vendio.

I started out doing things backwards using all the costly services. Wish I knew then what I know now.
