Thought I would pass this on in case someone else had the same problem. I have had several customers contact me wanting to know where their item was, because it was marked paid by seller on March 23. One was bought on March 21 and hadn't paid at all. Another was bought on March 23, stated in the checkout that he wanted to pay with PayPal but didn't send payment. I checked each auction and they are all say Marked Paid by Seller on March 23.

I don't use My eBay to tracked my auctions and have never marked anything paid on eBay. When they pay with PayPal I think it automatically marked, but I have never marked any manually.

Simply tell your bidders that they did not send payment as of yet and still need to pay.

I knew something like this was going to happen as soon as Ebay started letting bidders play with sellers My Ebay page. It's probably going to get worse before it gets better. In the meantime, it's a two way street. Mark the items as having been shipped and drive them crazy waiting for their free item to show up. When they inquire, tell them it must have gotten lost in the mail, the same as their payment did. When they send a duplicate payment, you will send a duplicate item.

I don;t have any auctions to play with right now, but can't you mark it Unpaid on your page?? Mark it unpaid and resend the invoice thru Ebay, that should get their attention.

I've had a lot of confused buyers, who think they've already paid, lately too.

I'm not clear about this, but I believe Vendio sends some information back to eBay once buyers complete checkout...At least that's what the eBay support staff seems to have been telling me. One example is that when I use eBay's Accounting Assistant to export auction information, eBay somehow already knows and is able to export whether a buyer has indicated that that they are planning to pay with a check, money order, or Paypal: eBay's Accounting Assistant knows this even if they haven't completed the payment process yet.

This leads me to suspect (and an eBay "Support" person alluded to this) that Vendio is sending them some post-sale info. So, maybe things are prematurely getting marked as paid due to something that Vendio's checkout system is telling eBay...Or maybe I'm completely wrong and these buyers are going directly through eBay's checkout somehow. Anyone know? Vendio?

Sparkz-
How in the heck can "Buyers", play with "Sellers", My Ebay page.....simply can't be done impossible, unless Buyer has sellers username and password AKA a subtle form of hacking.

A fairly short rant, if only to ease frazzled nerves for a few moments. Just to let you folks know ahead of time, I am not anti-ebay. In fact I'm all for it, as I do rely on it to generate some part-time deniro. Have done so for years and it would be nice to keep on doing so.

However, any day now I'm waiting for ebay to announce their newly-formed orchestra, they've incorporated so many useless, time-consuming and confusing bells and whistles.

I can't shake this feeling that one day, one year soon, ebay will implode on itself, like an overloaded but poorly-engineered concrete building (still hard for me to say "tower" -sigh).

Anyone remember when manually listing an item was a snap? When you didn't need third-party software to help keep track of 3 million bits of useless carp? That's the way it should still be. That's the way it still could be.

On ebay University. Yeah...pretty soon anyone hoping to sell something on ebay will need a university degree, and a doctorate at that.

Ok, rant over, gotta leave some for later (heh heh). I'm sure I can say some good things about ebay, too tired right now to think of any, though.

mandaray made a point Re: Vendio sending notice to eBay when WBN has beem sent. Amother reason not to use Vendio WBN. I send mine through the eBay invoice & never have any problems.

Gtootie - I haven't had this happen - I don't use Vendio check-out. Buyers can mark "payment sent" and that will transfer to your "My Ebay" but they cannot mark off "payment rec'd by seller" - that would be you, Vendio or ANOTHER ebay glitch.

A buyer can mark the item as Paid on their My eBay page. It then shows up on your page as being paid. I've had it happen!!

Edited to add: It's a stupid system. Rather than them being able to mark it as Paid, they should just have an option that states the payment is on the way. I posted a thread about this not too long ago.

Cheryl - they can mark it "paid" but not "Paid marked by seller". I have sold hundreds of items since this change was implemented and have not had buyers mark "Paid marked by seller"/ If you are having this happen too and use Vendio check-out I'll bet that it's the Vendio feed to ebay that's at fault.

I mentioned this a week or two ago, how people are swearing they paid me. 9 out 10 times you KNOW if you paid a seller.

I don't use the Vendio checkout system either, but have buyers mark the items paid all of the time. It can be done manually via their my ebay page and it will show on your ebay page as paid. Another reason to never use the ebay "my ebay" page. There is no good alternative to a good old fashion accounting page like in Xcel or Word to keep track of who has paid and what has been shipped. That way it is out of the hands of ebay, Vendio and your bidders.

The first buyer went through the checkout and indicated she was sending a money order. She has not sent it and the item was not marked as paid on Vendio. I have a feeling she is going to be a problem. I wrote her that I did not mark the item paid and had not received a payment. If she believes she paid she should send me a copy of the endorsed money order.

The second buyer indicated he would pay with PayPal. This auction was also not marked as paid on Vendio. He checked his PayPal account and then sent the payment.

I noticed several more marked as I was looking through my own My eBay page. I took it off all of them as none should have been marked, since I don't use that feature.

I have had buyers mark their auctions as paid before also, but these say "Marked as Paid by the Seller". That has never happened before. The red flag for me is that they were all on the 23rd. I believe that it was another eBay glitch.
