Any idea about how half is doing these days. I have a lot of books that I would like to put on there...hate to put them on ebay and pay and not sell.

I listed perhaps 130 books on Half when it first started up and would sell perhaps one a week. Then Half threatened to close down, and for some reason buyers left. I've got 5 or 6 books still on; the rest I removed and sold on Ebay or elsewhere. It's not working for me. Someone else here may be having good luck with it, though.

I posted 2 college books a couple weeks ago and they both sold within a week. I guess it all depends on what you have and price it at.

I switched from half.com to Amazon when half threatened to close down several years ago, and haven't regretted it. Amazon is where people go when they want a book, and your listing will show up even if they think they are looking for a new book. I sell way more books now on Amazon than ebay as well.

The only problem I have with Amazon is they charge .99 plus comission and some of these books are not high sellers so don't want to go in the red on my sales.

A year ago, a good portion of my online sales were from half.com - Today, it is perhaps 2% of my sales. I started to move away from half when they said they were going to close last July. There was a last minute delay until October, but I decided that since I started the process of moving away from half, I would continue. I decided to go with the pro merchant account at Amazon, and have not regretted it. One of the reasons I did not go to Amazon before was the fee to sell, but the way I figure it, I only have to sell 1 item a day basically to break even on the cost of the selling fee. I sell a lot more than that, and I have noticed that the prices tend to be higher on amazon than half (the selling price) - I still do some listing and sales on half, but I don't think it is going to come back. While the announcements it was closing down may have not reached the buyers, I think a lot of sellers simply moved on from half, lowering the quality of goods, and the buyers moved on too. Half was a great idea, ebay really screwed it up big time!

more people know AMZN,how many have heard of half.com?
But that 15% fee AMZN takes on marketplace can eat up your profit.
