Okay so now I have one neg and one neutral under my belt. Dumb newbie! Item ended in January, she waits until now to give me a neutral because she was disappointed in her purchase. Again the positive negative feedback. What a crock. No emails from her. Nothing. So, she gets a neutral back for being uncommunicative and gets blocked to boot.

Cheryl, I love your bear and his message... as for the question what's with newbies? WHO the heck knows save they seemingly don't want to learn and operate on ebay like those of us who have been on here for years. Seem's reasonable .... have a question, have a problem, ask me, write to me, see what I have to say. How hard is that?
Off to Texas in an hour. I need a big show keep me in your prayers Vendio friends... Thanks Bonnie
I feel for you. We have just 778 unique positives and one neutral. That came when a newbie used it to let me know that she really didn't intend to purchase 2 things, only one. It actually came within minutes of her hitting the Buy-it-Now.
So, for us, feedback has also been used as a channel of communication rather than a review or comment on a transaction.
Oh well, whatcha gonna do, huh?

I know I'm going to get slammed for this - but if it were me, I would let her have a big fat negative not a neutral. Just simply state that she does not follow ebay's guidelines for FB etc.
I just don't think it's fair to mess with a seller's reputation for sport. How does she know you would not have refunded all her money to her?? She didn't even let you know she was not happy.
Wait a few days and file for a withdrawal of FB. She may be willing to go for it.

I have a hunch about these newbies. They may be letting their "feedback to be left" pile up and later on, maybe days or weeks, they pick up on it and are careless (or forgetful) of the facts.
Most of my late-coming feedbacks are from newbies--some of them weeks or maybe a couple of months after the sale is completed. My understanding is that we can't just erase the feedback to be left--it just hangs there until something is done. Maybe it would be better for eBay to let it disappear after a couple of weeks. . . .
Cheryl, I too like your polar bear and his message. SUVs and Hummers are a blight, and the owners should be ashamed of being such gas pigs. That goes for Gov. Arnold, too.

Ladyjewels -- I agree with you. If I receive a neutral and the buyer hasn't contacted me first, I give them a BIG FAT NEG! Usually I received the neutral because the buyer didn't read the auction. DUH! So, I respond with a neg stating: Buyer didn't read listing nor communicate with seller prior to leaving neut FB (or something like that). Except, I won't do a mutual. I want those buyers to learn to read the listing and ask questions as well as communicate with future sellers. Everytime they go into ebay, they will be reminded of their great big OOPS and hopefully learn from it.

I have something new that I can't understand has happened for the past several weeks. Newbies with 5 and under who when I send an email for payment request, respond that they will send payment when they receive their item. Get a clue people, that is not how it works on Ebay.
I have had 3 within 4 weeks of each other.
I don't get it.
Plus I had a negative from a person who when I file a non payment alert with Ebay gave me a nice negative. Of course I neg him back since I don't leave feedback first any longer.
Has anyone tried the neg feedback removal by way of way of false contact info?? I really want to try this method or will I be wasting my time.

Roseanne -- Try it and see what happens. You have nothing to lose except a neg. As for the buyers who refuse to pay until they have the item, I would write back and do a comparison of shopping on the internet. No store will send their item(s) without being paid first. The same goes for ebay.

I'm getting really tired of the newbies. They seem to come in droves. I have started leaving negs also. I decided to do the other people they buy from a favor. If nothing else it may teach the newbie to think before leaving a feedback. For that matter think before they get worked up when their package doesn't show up the next day after payment.

My theory is that the newbies who expect the item before paying saw the eBay commercial where they sing something like, "Bid today and its on its way!' with no mention of paying first.

I had a really bad transaction the end of last week and I'm pretty sure it's going to end up in a negative, at the very least a neutral.
I had a 17 FB newbie (she's still new, I've got almost 950 positives). I had another buyer last week email me and request 6 specific items of what I sell (I make what I sell, can make any amount, etc) in a mixed lot. I set up a Special order auction, listed it through my store. The item SAID SPECIAL ORDER. The original buyer had the instructions on how to do it, the way shipping would work, etc.
So she doesnt' do her BIN right away and I get a purchased email the other day. SOMEONE ELSE bought 1 single item in that lot of 6, paid $5 for it and expects all 6 of the items, worth over $30. I kindly emailed her and explained that was someone else's SPECIAL ORDER which is why it said Special Order. She did not email me prior, no contact, no questions, just bought one. She was SO NASTY and rude, telling me it's not her problem that I don't know what I'm going (I was like WHAT?!) and that if I'm going to "put it out there I better back it up" and that she was going to contact eBay and report me as a scammer.
I checked into her feedback left and she's nasty. She complains about "slow" shipping (5 days?!), poor packaging, bad communication, everything. You name it.
So I went ahead and just sent her the 6 items (and lost my @ss on it!) and a nice email telling her that her package had shipped.
I still think it's not going to do me any good.
This will be the second strike in 2 weeks that I've received.
The last one was because another newbie bought an item on the 20th, I shipped the 22nd and she got it March 6th. I have the Delivery Confirmation AND Post Office receipt from when it was shipped but someone that was STILL my fault that the PO was slow? SHE NEGGED ME!
It's very frustrating. I sell on eBay to help support my daughter, to pay for her sport and expenses and have money for things like gas, etc. To have stupid people screw that up really irritates me.
Anyhow...

Someone told me recently that Jay and Marie CDs mail out their items prior to payment but what is their percentage of losers who flake out on their obligations.
There may be many sellers who don't mind shipping prior to payment. Not me, it just don't pay the bills.

They do mail them before payment. I bought a CD from them once and was surprised to find out they did that. I paid immediately of course but still!

I tried mailing everything out before I left for vacation last month - I must have shipped 100 items before receiving payment and everybody paid! It was an experiment because I didn't want to come back in 3 weeks to a mess of angry emails etc. I think I will do it again next time.

Neglus: Three times in the last couple of years I've mailed an item before payment was received. They were all under $15, however, and I don't know how happy I'd be to do that for a higher-priced item. All were for a gift and I trusted the buyers; my trust was rewarded in each case with a prompt payment. I wouldn't hesitate to do this again if it were asked of a buyer (someone with a good FB record, of course).

Cheryl...Same thing happened to me. I sold an omlette pan to a jerk in November. He waits exactly 60 days after the auction ends and leaves me a neutral. Says the metal is too thin. Won't cook an omelette. My first thought was to leave him a neutral also. He was fairly new with a feedback of 10. He had just received his star. I checked the feedback he had left for others. He had left 2 negs and one neutral for sellers who had left him positive feedback first, plus the neutral he left for me. I immediately saw red, but followed the advice posted on these boards so many times, and waited 24 hours to calm down before doing anything. I then typed this for my response "ummm..Maybe you should learn how to cook before using the pan". I then slammed him with a neg and plucked that gold star off his profile and proceeded to block him from ever bidding on another of my auctions. As Jackswebb once said, a neutral is nothing more than a neg in sheeps clothes. If they leave a neutral for me without contacting me first and giving me a chance to work out a problem, it's an iron clad guarantee they will get a neg in return.

Helga - I know it won't help for your current situation - but next time you have a "special order" set it up as an approved bidders only auction and only approve the bidder who requested it.
I did this recently, the item was actually up for 2 days before the requestor got around to buying it - but that's two days I didn't have to worry about somebody else coming in and buying it first.

I just got my 1st one the other day . What a bummer! The lady told me a Corelle Lid wasn't measured right. She asked me if I used a ruler or a cloth measuring tape. i told her I used a cloth. She told me it wasn't a accurate measure. I didn't know that. I measured it from the bottom and I am sure I was right.

I finally got a clean slate again. But I'm sure it won't stay that way.

I guess I'm a little soft about leaving negative feedback for other's (unless there was fraud involved).
I am more concerned about how my Feedback looks. Whenever I get a Neutral or a a Negative (which hasn't happened often, thank goodness) I make a reply to the feedback that reflects under the neg feedback that was recv'd.
For instance, I had a buyer leave negative feedback for me because they claim the item was not as described. I sent 2 E-Mails to this buyer with no response, so I made a comment on this feedback that I tried to reach Buyer with no response.
I also recv'd a neutral because of delayed shipping. I made a comment on my feedback that due to delay I refunded buyer's S&H.
I make sure to try and make comments on any neg or Neutral feedback so when new buyer's are looking at my history they can see that if there are problems I do my best to work them out.
