Re the buyer who filled out the PayPal form with a blank in the "sent to" line - He said he would send a money order. That was on 3/8 for an auction that closed on 3/1. When it still hadn't arrived, I emailed him again this Wednesday to let him know it hadn't arrived.
But I was able to open a UID. There's a blue button that has a "file an unpaid item dispute" link, even though, on eBay, it's still listed as "paid with PayPal. Payment pending." The hourglass is still there on the seller's page.
So eBay's tech contradicts its own stated rules.
The person who is answering the emails now claims to be the buyer's son-in-law who is watching the buyer's auctions while he's away. Today, I got a new email claiming that the envelope with the MO was returned as undeliverable because the address was off by a digit.
But I also got a "response" to the UID dispute I filed - that the money order was being remailed.
All this over a $2.99 auction with $4.30 in shipping.
I'm not sure what happens next if the MO doesn't come in.
In the context of collectible beer cans, $2.99 for an opening bid is relatively high compared to all of the sellers who start at 99 cents, or even 50 cents.
Usually, with most of these, I get at least one more bid, but right now, the market is still sort of slow - starts to pick up in April and May.

roz, just trying to save your profits from going out in fees. Can you put a few cans together and then list at 9.99? That's what I do when I know something just won't get 9.99. I also do that when I'm too lazy to list them individually(happens a lot).
I do that, but with the latest round, I've been doing some small auctions just to get back into the swing of things. It's been a while.
Right now, I'm concerned about this new UID process, and this buyer who's had an amazing number of problems ... couldn't get a PayPal payment transmitted ... the envelope with the MO was undeliverable cause the address was off by a digit ..now it's supposedly being mailed again ...
It's more that I'm getting an amazing runaround over such a low-ticket item ... It never seems to be the big ones that are a problem ... the occasional problem bidder always seems to be the person who buys something small ...
