I now know why so many bidders on ebay get fed up and stop buying.
Here's what happened to me recently. I bought a lot of leaflets through buy it now from a seller that I (used) to purchase from quite frequently. She advertised 41 different leaflets/booklets. When I received the package, 15 of the leaflets/booklets were missing. I immediately wrote to her with no response. So I wrote again today. I received a response from her stating that she will be away until April 1st, which is exactly 1 day past the filing deadline with paypal. When I read her e-mail, I noticed she was online. (For those that don't know, with AOL you can see when someone is online whom you e-mailed and who e-mailed you back.) I called her bluff and im'ed her stating that I'm sorry she's away until April 1st and I would now have to file a claim with Paypal. She must think I was born yesterday! Fortunately for me, it was only a total of $46.00 and I did request only a partial refund for the missing items. But it still really ticks me off! This seller can kiss my lily white hiney!
I can only imagine how many buyers, who aren't as knowledgeable, get taken. I saw someone was selling copies of a couple of very highly sought after leaflets. She put the fact that she was selling copies all the way at the bottom in her listing under shipping information. She is pretty saavy too because she kept the bidding list private so no one could contact the bidders and only ran a 3-day listing so that ebay wouldn't have time to pull the listing. The amounts that these items were bidded up to were equal to what an original would have sold for. I really doubt that the winners knew they were bidding on copies.
Sorry, I just needed to vent a bit. There ... Now I feel better.
