Hi
On another board a seller states that a 2nd chance offer was sent to a non-winning bidder in one of her auctions.
She was then contacted by the bidder who was ready to send payment.
How is this possible?
I know you can see bidders, but a third party contacting them? How is that possible?
Thanks

I get them fairly frequently. They’re spam like all other phishing expeditions.
Joe Sleazebag in Indonesia sees you, and several others, are bidding on an expensive item. He obtains everyone’s email address and then contacts all the underbidders after the auction ends. He might say the first bidder didn’t pay or he has two items, etc.
His email will look exactly like an ebay second chance offer except he will ask you to send a cash equivalent payment (BidPay, wire transfer, cashiers check, etc) to his physical or email address, as appropriate. Guess what happens then….
If you ever get a second chance offer, you’ll want to write directly to the seller through ebay’s “Ask the Seller a Question” link to determine it’s legitimacy. If the original email says to mail cash to Elbonia, small bills only, don’t even bother.
