I've had this happen a lot, I honestly don't care who pays for it, as long as I get paid.

Simple....

Congratulations on your win. I will be happy to ship to your confirmed address and you can give the book to your friend. I ship to confirmed PP adresses only.

Now, with that said, I do often ship "gifts", if the buyer has a good feedback rating and his contact info is up-todate.

." I was bidding for a non Ebay person,"

you mean there are still some of those left on the planet?

I run into alot of grannies, sisters, etc., who buy my items and have them sent to the grandchild, brother, etc.....
And to be honest I have never been burned....yet!
But..
I do keep my communication between myself and the id of the bidder, not a third party. I keep all e-mails within that transaction until finalized, as my recourse for E-Bay, and would encourage you to do so as well.
Cheers!

I buy for my daughter and ask that it be shipped to her address, and then leave nice feedback after it arrives.

I've also had packages shipped to me out of town to that address if I'm going to be there and not here to receive the package - like at Christmas.

I've placed bids and won for my non-Ebay friends. (who don't know how to snipe and it's easier for me to just do it for them).

Fortunately my sellers have always been very understanding.

It's kind of stupid to ship something twice when once will do.

And - if they have a non-confirmed PP address, they can't do a charge back, right?

Girlfriend, unfortunately, "they", the buyer, can most certainly do a chargeback even if you mailed to an unconfirmed address.

You, the seller, are the one who will be hosed if the buyer does a charge-back.
