I need some help identiying a silver pattern. I have an interesting piece of Gorham silverplate, a large pie server I believe. Is there a good reference site on the Internet? I've tried Replacements with no luck. I'll try to post a pic, not sure if this will work. It's marked Gorham with an anchor and Pat.87. 12" long. Also, do these kinds of things sell well on Ebay? Any idea of value. Thank you in advance for your help.

Thank you Max. Is there an Internet reference for these things. I have about 6 similar pieces. Doesn't seem worth buying a reference guide, which I imagine can cost $50+. Any idea about value for a piece like this pie server?

I can highly recommend "Silverplated Flatware" by Tere Hagan. It has a cover price of $18.95 but can be bought for less. This is the most comprehensive guide I have seen. While it doesn't price every piece of every pattern, it gives a value range for each pattern as far as desireablity of the pattern. It then gives a value for each piece in that desireablity catagory. Forinstance, your Gorham Royal desireablity is "S". Meaning seldom collected. In the "S" catagory, the dessert server is valued at $12.00-$15.00.
It's a 374 pg softcover that lists thousands of patterns. If you handle any amount flatware at all, it's a worthwhile investment.
