I have some very old series books like Horatio Alger, Tom Swift etc-Some of them have no copyright date anywhere in the book- There is no indication of when the books were printed-Even very old 19th Century books have printing dates so this puzzles me-any info appreciated-

Some older books have the copyright or publishing dates at the back of the book rather than the front of the book. You might try there.

Go to a book site like AddALL, type in the title, author, and publisher, and specify hardback only (if your books are hardback). If the book is, say, orange, you can put that in the keyword blank. Or if the illustrator of the book is listed, you can put that in "keyword" too. Pull up the listings then and see what you have. Some of the booksellers have done the research and know when a book was published even if the date isn't in the book.
I research abebooks, too, and a couple of others, but AddALL seems to have all the bells and whistles I need when researching something that's difficult.
(I did this with an old book about Capt. Cook a few months ago, sold it for a good amount to a man in New Zealand. When he got it, he questioned how I knew the pub. date, and I could direct him to the AddALL booksite. Never heard from him again, and he left a +feedback.)
