Two of the items I just sold were purchased for Christmas presents. I have a whole room full of stuff I am saving for the holiday season hoping to get the most out of them. I was think mid November but now am am reconsidering and thinking about firing everything off between now and then....to early yet?

KMart & Sears already have trees out for sale...

I haven't even BEGUN to think about Christmas yet. I may put up a Halloween thing later... I'll think about it in a few weeks

I am sticking Christmas hints in a lot of my auctions right now. Basically stating that people should buy now before the Christmas bidding craze hits.

There are a few super early Christmas shoppers out already at online auction sites.

I'm going to hold off on my holiday items until November /December ... seems the desperation to get things 'bought' drives the bids higher, IMHO ...

I do well the whole month of November at the flea market. But I think the heaviest buying on E-Bay is mid-Nov to about Dec 10th.

I've been wanting to start blowing out Christmas jewelry (which has been accumulating around here all year), but my wholesale advisor says to hold off until late October at the soonest.

This doesn't make that much sense to me, since the likely buyers would be eBay sellers or boutique store owners and they would want to nail down their Christmas merch pretty soon, I'd think.

Certainly the big retail outfits ordered the Christmas merch a month or more ago. Mail order companies even earlier...I just got a big batch of Christmas catalogues.

Oh, and traditionally we have closed one week before Christmas, to avoid last-minute craziness to the extent that it is possible to avoid it.

It works well. Then we have a big push to have lots of auctions end Dec 26 through New Year's Day as there is a lot of bidding then.

I am almost aprehensive about a "Christmas Craze". Thanks for mentioning closing down a week before. I think I will do that too, as I dont want to get caught up in my Holiday that all I'm doing is rushing around to get somebody else's gifts out!

Would it be politcally incorrect to put a little blurb or small picture in auctions that say something to the effect...
Only X weeks until the holidays

I have been toying with the idea..I sell a lot of items and they are mainly gifts that people buy them for.

I don't want to offend non-Christians by putting Christmas but figure most people..even non-Christians buy some gifts at the holidays for Hanukkah or Kwanzaa, etc.

Are you going to count the days/weeks down to Christmas or Chanakkah? For Kwanzaa you're supposed to make the gift, so that would work for certain crafty items. I'm not one for necessarily being politically correct, though.
