I sold this postcard to someone in Canada and I charge 1.50 for postage and had no problems till now. He says:"Please advise re total with postage. This card does not require any special shipping. It can simply be posted inside a folded piece of paper in a regular envelope." Isnt it your agree to the TOS when you win an auction?

It still might cost a little more to send to Canada, should I still charge him the full $1.50?

Yes...

If that was your listed shipping, then they should pay that.

I charge $1.50 for shipping within the USA, $2.00 to Canada, and $3.00 everywhere else for a postcard.

No complaints (of course, I don't get any from Canada or "everywhere else" but that is fine with me!

I have had people adjust the shipping when they send Paypal and I just refund the payment and request the correct amount. I do state S&H in my TOS. Did you?

Edited to add that I also enclose mine in a hard plastic top loader which costs me $.30 each and prevents bending.

What you say in your TOS is what you charge no matter where you send it. A postcard does require special shipping in my book. Now if you would put it in an envelope and send it and it should get bent then who's fault is that? Stick with you TOS. It doesn't cost that to ship to the USA either but they have to remember your time, I use a special envelope, and stamp. I wouldn't back down. If they didn't like your TOS then they shouldn't have bid......

I also charge $ 1.50 for US postcards, $ 2.00 for Canada and $ 2.50 for rest of world and have had no complaints. I have even worked a way to send pc's for 1oz postage and then spend a little more on the materials. I ship in the plastic loader too linda - but get mine for .17.

If the shipping cost is disclosed on your TOS he hasnt a leg to stand on!

Would you share your source for the top loaders?

You can call them at:

*Edited by me - forgot i ordered something else with the order - cost is 18.50 not 19.50 each. I NEED MY AM COFFEE!

Thought I had edited the above reply enough so started another - have my coffee now and life is good ...

I found a supplier who made kraft envelopes that just fit the toploaders - when I use a VERY small packing slip, the envelope weighs in at exactly 1 oz. so I can use .37 postage and not the .60 I had to use before.

The supplier just informed me that he won't have anymore of the 4 5/8 x 6 3/4 envelopes available so I have to hunt down another source. Does anyone have ideas?

PS: I am back from vacation and finding sales SLOW SLOW SLOW .. is it Spring Break , War or...(shudder) just me?

Not just you. The cards I listed last Saturday did very good. I am at almost 50% (for me that is good). But, the ones I listed on Wednesday and Thursday (only 30) don't have a bid yet

Thanks for the info. I have looked and looked for the smaller kraft envelopes and haven't been able to find any. If anyone comes up with them let me know. I use the larger ones and fold them over but they weigh more so it costs 60 cents for mailing. Plus I hate having to tape the sides.

Thanks for the supplier name for the toploaders. I'll give them a call when these get low.

I found these. I ordered 1,000 to check them out.

I paid $29.95 for 500 of the larger ones the last time I ordered so these are a little less and a lot more convenient.

Hello
There is a small group of Canadians that bid on Ebay paper areas, stamps, cards, covers etc who seem to think they are in the 51 state. They make it rough on all the other good people of Canada who bid on Ebay.

If it is in your tos (Boilerplate) ignore or a brief "...as per lot, posting to Canada is $1.50 US$". Don’t get sucked into an e-mail justification discussion. Good luck

thanks lindajean! wow those are cheaper than my old supplier (those were pre-printed "photos do not bend" - but i can get a stamp that says that!)

BACK TO THREAD:
I have had wonderful experience selling to Canadian buyers! Just because one complains a little, I would not discount the whole country! In fact, I have had nothing but favorable experiences in my international sales as well - I was a little afraid to open the payment from Hong Kong because of the SARS scare but haven't come down with anything yet!

Sorry to digress from the original thread..maybe we should start a post card sellers forum!

You can get 4x6 toploaders from BCW 500 @ 14c each. They're located in Indiana. Shipping for 500 toploaders to the Detroit area was $8.78.

BETTER STILL! Thanks bkmunroe! I think customers are thrilled to have the postcards protected by something they can keep as opposed to a rigid cardboard mailer that is thrown away and the cost (considering the reduced postage) is about the same (or less) to us!

well he sent me $3 from paypal with no complaints. I told him he had agreed to the TOS. $1.50 isnt bad considering you see people overprice their shipping so much its a joke. Yeeehaaaaaa so i won that battle.

good for you leftmay! I once had a buyer who grumbled a little about my s/h. At first I thought he was joking because of the way he worded the inquiry and I emailed back a rather humorous (I thought so anyway) reply - he didn't see the humor and responded he didn't like working with moody blondes ( a play on my email name)...we sent several emails back and forth and finally I wrote: "after all this, the s/h is on me. Please just pay the winning bid amount".

He sent a check for the full amount and has bought several postcards from me since without a peep.

GO FIGURE!
