I have a huge, heavy book, NOrman Rockwell, Artist and Illustrator, which contains every one of his Saturday Evening Post covers--hundreds of them, all in full color, many are foldouts. Good dust jacket, too.
This book is selling on ebay for $6 or $7 IF it sells! I want it off my hands. Should I piece out the illustrations and sell them that way by theme (like barber shop, 1st day of school, etc.)? List it anyway? Donate it to my thrift shop? I've had it on my pile of books for several years now and don't want to look at it any longer.

Try a Used book store in your area. You may still et the sam amount for it but you won't have to pay fees : ) If you are an avid reader you can trade it for those books "you've been meaning to read".

Research piecing it out first... may be worth your effort... if not, donate it away sounds good.

Yeah right! Donate it to the Library so they can donate it to the Good Will and it ends up in a HUGE dumpster. Then hand picked over by book Collectors and if it ain't of no value to them,,,,right to the County Dump......And from what I hear,,,In the Southern Regions the poor Children have NO books to read.....Yet I have pesonally seen 1000's of books stamped,,,,Library,,,,,take the County Road......it's all about money!!!!! Tax payers,,,,Buy them books to read! with suposid schools that have No money! let's get REAL. Sell it!!!!! get some money for yourself!
Snap! snap! snap!,,,,,,Whiiiiiip it, Whiiiiip it GOOD! OOOOuch!

Thanks for all your suggestions!
Toasted: I may try putting it in with the collectible plates - once (good idea)- and if it doesn't sell, piecing it out or donating to our library.
Y'know, Rockwell was supposed to be the big hot new thing in the last year but our great-aunt's Rockwell plates (which we didn't care for) brought under $10 each. Maybe in another century. . . . he is an acquired taste, like olives or anchovies.

Please, please, please don't piece it out. Taking photographs or plates or anthing out of a book destroys the value of both the plates and the book. I would hold on to the book until the economy gets a bit better and people are again spending money. There is a greater value in the book as a whole than as pieces parts.

Piecing out Rockwell illustrations won't do you much good. There is a huge amount of Rockwell out there and he is just not as popular as he used to be.

pelorus is right. The Rockwell heirs, by signing up for every cheesy endorsement deal they could land, have all but destroyed the value of Norman Rockwell works.
I had the posters Rockwell did during WWII for the war effort. These were original flatfold posters, not reproductions. Had a heck of a time unloading them.
I expect that Rockwell will cycle back into fashion eventually, given enough time. Save the book and protect the dust jacket.
It's just not the right time to sell some things.
