Just received a demanding letter telling me that my ebay account is inactive and threatening that if I don't update my info via the "link" below they will close my account immediately and cancel all my feedback.

REEEALLLLLLLY !!!

I don't think so sweetie!!!

My account is active, paid and doing just fine, but I sure worry about the innocent people that fall for this con.

They even include a sloppy Ebay logo with shabby graphics and some small print that looks like ebay style formatting. It was good enough that I had to think about it for a minute.

So heads up gang, the cons are lurking out there again and this one is going to catch a few people off guard. Looks like they are doing a mass mailing.

Boy these people are good. I tried to forward the email to [email protected] and when I hit the forward button the email disappears.

Somebody with some advanced software knowledge is playing this one. If the email can't be forwarded to ebay not much action can be taken. Earthlink doesn't allow me to cut and paste and Im not about to download the email to my computer.

Ebay sent me a letter from "[email protected]" telling me that the letter I received was indeed NOT from ebay.

What I wanted to pass on was that when the email is forwarded to spoof@ebay it sends a message to the individuals who are committing the fraud. These guys are really good...

Safe Harbor is investigating and will contact the ISP to shut them down.
