I am desperate for someone to help me with posting pics to my Auction Watch. It says my pics are too big and I have no clue on how to compress them. Can anyone help?

saving them as jpeg will reduce the size greatly. what do you have them saved as? also you may need to reduce the actual size of the photo. if you need help with that let me know.

They are saved as jpeg files, but it still says they are too big. If I retake the pics using a smaller resolution will that work? Thanks so much for helping.

Does your camera software allow you resize your pic after you have downloaded them? My pics come up as 1238 X 640. I resize them to 600 X 405 & never have a problem with AW. Just uploaded 16 pics before coming on outlook. Email me @ [email protected] if you have any ???

I did manage to upload apic of my kids taken from the same camera to my store page..Is it because i took it with the most pictures I could get...80 instead of the 10 availability ....lord knows I am lost..lol

I have no idea what program HP uses, but on your tool bar (at the top of your picture settings on your desktop) Is there anything that you can click on that will bring up resize or anything like that. There should be something that lets you resize, crop, rotate, enhance color etc. Put a couple of pics that you don't care to save & play with the software. Also READ your manual!!!! I am sure the answers are there.

Ok, I am still not able to post these stupid pics...I tried switching the settings on my camera and that did not work. I tried the tool bars and although I can rotate them, I cannot resize them. Anyone have any ideas what in the heck I am doing wrong?

You should be able to go into your program and save them as ( JPG.) then load those to AW.

reruns4,

You really should use some sort of photo-editing software for your auction pics. The one I would recommend would be Adobe PhotoShop elements. It will allow you to re-size your photos, and even increase the amount of compression for the JPEG format. It is a great program, and a great deal at the $99.95 retail price. You can pretty much do most of the things you can do in the regular PhotoShop program, with the exception of some of the professional pre-press, color balance stuff. With this program you'll be able to crop, add text / watermarks, adjust colors, remove red-eye, merge photos, and lots more! Hope this helps!

First thing you need to remember is that no matter what you do, if the person you want to see the picture is going to look at on a computer monitor, they can not see it at better then 72 DPI, Reset to 72dpi. Second, because you can not see better then 72 DPI, JPG compression will be very effective in reducing your picture to 50% or less of the space it originally took. Most software that comes with a scanner or a digital camera will allow you save as a JPG, you need to find out how to do that (Perhaps it has a help feature, search for Compress JPG).

If your progam allow's you, CROP it down to size.
As:eauctionmgnt:
Say's you need a better program!
I use ( The Print Shop )
Excellent!
Or: Ask your kid's what they did with the manual, That may offer you a lot of insite to what you are doing wrong.
And if they don't know where it is, just ask them how to fix your problem, they I'm sure read it! Why else would they have it?

I use Adobe Photoshop H.E. 3.0 & it works great. It came with my Olympus D-450Z. (H.E. stands for Home Edition)As far as changing the settings on your camera, I don't see how that would change the size of your pics in your PC.

Download the FREE program Irfanview from www.irfanview.com (or any of dozens of other download sites) Open your photo in it, and choose "image" and then "resize/resample". You can either select your new size in pixels, cm, or inches, OR as a percentage of the original size. At the bottom of the window, the size in KB will be displayed. Once it gets below the 350, save it. Then you just need to apply the same percentage (or size selection) to the rest of your photos to get them all the same size. Good luck!

First thing is tell us what your photo software is and then maybe someone who has the same software can help you. i.e. Adobe photoshop, Photosuite. What you need to do is crop your picture and take out the part you don't want. If your object is in the center of your picture then you need to get rid of the part you don't want and keep only the important part. That right there will make your picture smaller. Tell us what your photo software is and maybe we can go from there.

Reset camera to take 80 pics. Crop if needed -- most software that comes with digitals is fairly similar -- there should be an icon of a pair of scissors somewhere on the toolbar, or perhaps a small box. You should be able to place your cursor on the photo you are working on, then drag and make a frame around it, then crop. When you save pic as jpg, make sure you are saving in medium quality (under the format selection when you save).

Retake one item first and try it.

Hope this helps.
