I have some very old school desks that I want to try to sell on E-bay but they will have to be picked up. They are really heavy. Does anyone here have any experience doing this. Also, I went to the home page to see if there was anything special I had to do to list by region. I could't find any instructions. Any help would be appreciated.

I sold a stackable washer/dryer on the eBay regional auction. Make sure that you place the delivery/pick up instructions in your auction description. You almost have to list everything on eBay regionally so there is no special thing to do anymore.
Another thing you might want to do is use the Yahoo Classifieds. They are free and a lot of people use them to buy and sell items locally. I bought a used refrigerator on Yahoo Classifieds a while back.

I do it all the time!
Make sure you let the buyer's know they need to pick it up!
And let them know where the will picking it up from, area of you state.
Really never had any trouble have had buyer's come from as far as 5 states away.

I used to use yahoo's Classifieds until they started charging. I just tried to list in the pet's section to see if they would charge. They now charge $12.95 for 21 days. Anything that is good and free usually doesnt stay free forever. There are a few VERY popular regional classified sites that are free. You need to check them out.

Ouch! $12.95 for 3 weeks on Yahoo Classifieds? That should just about kill most of the ads there. There were people selling $5 items there and that was kind of abusing the system. I see that Yahoo Personals charges for the dating service now as well.

You can ship heavy items cheaply via the Greyhound bus system. The buyer has to pick up the item on their end however. You might call greyhound and ask about this service.

Spell it out BIG AND BOLD right in your auction. This will NOT BE SHIPPED! I sell big stuff al the time. If you don't plan on picking it up DO NOT BID! Why pussy foot around other wise you will surely get an idiot as the winner. When he wakes up, You have to relist and you will never get that high bid again because the think something is WRONG WITH IT the next time around. .02 cents.

Actually I live in central Jersey and I sold an item that needed to be picked up! The winning bidder was from: London, England.
What a JOKE!
Waited the alloted amount of time did a FVF And left Neg.
Relisted the item it sold for twice as much and the winning bidder paid immediatly with paypal & picked it up the next day.
So you don't always loose on a relist.
