Is it OK to put a pic that has frontal nudity with an auction? This auction is for an illustrated history of early erotic photography, and the pic is from the cover.
I know eBay has a special sex oriented section, but I really want this auction to be in the regular eBay listings. It is a legitimate study of its subject by a reputable publisher.
I need an answer quick, in case I need to alter the pic with some strategic airbrushing before it gets a bid.

I am not sure about the rules for pictures, but I can tell you they drove me nuts when they kept ending a Playboy travel magazine I was selling that had no nudity at all. The saw the word PLAYBOY and would just end the auction and warn me to list it in the adult section. I did that ONCE, and got less than 10 hits in as many days and no bids, versus the 100+ hits it had each time before they ended it early in the normal catagory...
Check the fine art section - I see a lot of artistic nude images and books in there that seem to do okay.

A while back I was looking at paintings and found an auction of a nude male. Full frontal nude. I was going to post the auction number here for the women who can appreciate a nice looking guy but when I went back the next day to write the number down it was listed as "invalid item". I think I would airbrush the appropriate areas. Just my 2 cents. Barbara

I saw a bunch of nudist colony photos about a year ago and eBay said they were okay in the general public auction area.

I gave up trying to sell fine figurative art because of the idiots who decide these issues at ebay.
The problem is their customer service people are in Utah, and they think they are the morality police. Their reading of the rules, and application, is capricious are arbitrary, NTAWT (Never The Same Answer Twice.)
The rules say if the image has artistic merit, nudity is ok. They mean something like the Venus de Milo or Michaelangelo's David, but have pulled Botticelli images for example. Idiots. God forbid you try to show any contemprary sculpture.
Recently there was an auction for a cigrette case with an art deco figure on it which got cancelled - it wasn't particularly detailed. In fact the pubic area had no detail at all, but they cancelled it anyway.
You know, the rules also forbid cropping and retouching with little black squares etc. but I have seen many sellers use this method, even crudely, without penalty.
You won't know until you try. I wish they took the "mature audiences" matters and hired people from some other, more educated and open minded state. It would help a lot.
