Can anyone put a name to this type of glass for me please. Bottom of dish is in shades of amber, going to green at the top. 3 cornered. Measures about 9" across. VERY heavy, 5 lbs.

revvassago the bottom is absolutely smooth, no sign of a mark. I was told that it was quite old, but you can't rely on that. I paid $8, it seemed like a good price, now if only I know what to call it!!

Hey, good luck to you. I too would like to know what to call it; I have a heavy purple duck, about 8 inches high. . . . For now, it's art glass.
If there is a pontil mark, what does that say about its value, by the way? Vs. no pontil mark, I mean.

This looks like it could be Chalet glass. It was an art glass that used to be made up in Canada. Some of the colors are very beautiful and the pieces are very heavy.
If you do an ebay search for Chalet glass you will find similar ones. They also made glass figurines like birds, I believe. I don't think that there is a pontil mark, just a smooth bottom.
At times they are signed Chalet but they also used paper foil labels and of course those may have fallen off over the years.

Thank you SO much kiara, you are right, I have done a search and I am sure that is what it is, plus I live in Canada! Many of the pieces seem to be marked or signed, but quite a few do not. I appreciate the help.
