I had about 100 auctions end for videos tonight. Usually I sell around 50-60% of my videos the first time. Tonight I sold maybe 5%??????? What the heck is happening? Is Saturday night evening the worst possible time to end an auction (4:30 pm western time).

Or maybe was there a problem at eBay. This is a disaster. I just lost about $30 in listing fees, plus my auctions that did sell sold for peanuts.

Any comments?? I sell semi-rare videos. In the range of $5 - $20. Mostly classics. I have found that most of my bids do come in the last few hours, so I am think it is a Saturday thing.

If so, when do you think is the best time to close for movies??

I think there are two forces working against sales- one is the economy, which is uncertain at best, and the second is the summer slow down.

Saturday may still be your best night with 5% sales.

I rarely close auctions on Saturday. Tried it tonight. In vintage jewelry I closed 30 auctions tonight 80% sold and most with multiple bids.

I've tried Saturday nights and don't like to end then. People tend to go out more, Sunday night is where I have had more success. Saturday afternoon is not too bad, but Sunday evening is best to get multiple bidders as the auctions close.

I sell videos also. Most of them sold, but I did notice that the prices didn't go up at all tonight for the most part. I don't know what even made me end listings on a Saturday - I usually don't. But I do try to end some every night because I don't want to be bombarded with paypal/billpoint payments all in one day - I work full time also.

Well this is interesting. I always start my videos at around the average "completed price" and I usually get most of my bids at the end.

Maybe I will start all my movies this week at $2 each and see what happens.

ihula, since you sell videos also. What do you usually start your videos at??

I had only two auctions close tonight, both vintage jewelry and I really did good on them. I also received many other bids on auctions that are closing next week. I have tried all days times to end auctions and I find that all are good. I guess there are better days where you might get more bids but tonight I did really well.

I am in Ohio and yesterday was the first nice day we have had in the last 2 weeks, it has rained everyday. Most people were not in their houses in the midwest.

That could have had some effect on bidding. JMHO

I tried ending most of my auctions last night (usually they end on Sunday) and I am really pleased. I did better last night than I've done in weeks! Good thing too, I have LOTS of bills this week!!!

I usually start most of them at $2.00. If it's a video that I know is not popular and I have a lot of that one I'll start it at .99 and pray that I get that for it - I'll put a BIN of $1.99 in case I get a bite.

Next to Friday night, Saturday night as the worst. You will find people will be out on the town and not in front of their computers on those nights. Most every other night is good though.
Do your relists to end a different day.
Good luck
